Famitsu’s top 25 games of 2007

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DSThe Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu is known for their tough-as-nails scoring system by four reviewers for every single game (so the maximum score is four times ten: 40). Most recently in 2008, Super Smash Bros. Brawl was only the 8th game to ever receive a perfect score since Famitsu’s 1986 inception. Looking back at 2007, it was definitely a great year, and it’s quite surprising how much they liked Xbox 360 games, since Japan is the only region with lackluster sales of the console.

Famitsu’s full top 25 games of 2007:

1. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - 39
2. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360 version) - 38
3. Super Mario Galaxy - 38
4. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (PS2) - 38
5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (360) - 37
6. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) - 37
7. Minna no Golf Portable 2 (PSP) - 37
8. God of War 2 (PS2) - 37
9. Halo 3 - 37
10. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (PS3) 36
11. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2008 (360) 36
12. Kousoku Card Battle: Card Hero (DS) - 36
13. Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida (PSP) - 36

Master Chief cake is a bit top heavy

Honestly, this Master Chief cake was a nice effort but it does not look tasty at all. Hey, I could be wrong and it could be delicious but just from this picture… no thanks. What is stuffed in Master Chief’s cake brain? Rice Krispie treats.

Xbox 360 tops Septembers NPD’s

Source: thexboxdomain.com

money20tree.jpg

As if anyone with any kind of fore site should have seen, the Xbox 360 has topped the NPD sales chart for September. Xbox 360 managed to rake in 528,000 for the month off of the back of Halo 3, putting it in the September drivers seat versus Nintendo Wii’s 501,000 and PS3’s 119,000. This makes it the first time that Nintendo hasn’t been on top since its Nintendo Wii launched last November.

NPD reported that in the US, Xbox 360 was the #1 console for the month; outselling PS3 5:1

oXbox 360 sales built upon its growth from last month, showing a 50 percent increase for the month of September selling an average of 105,600 consoles per week. Total sales were more than 528,000 Xbox 360 consoles sold, compared to 501,000 for Wii and 119,000 for PS3.

oPS3 sales posted an average weekly decline of 27 percent.

Of course console sales are great and all, but the Xbox 360 continues to be the top platform for third party sales as well.

·Xbox 360 software revenue at retail outsold PS3’s software portfolio 8:1 and Wii’s 4:1, selling 3 times more than both platforms combined.

oFor the month of September according to NPD, Xbox 360 software represented 74 percent of total software sales for the next generation market compared to 17 percent for Wii and 9 percent for PS3. Even without the sales of “Halo 3” the Xbox 360 portfolio outsold the PS3 portfolio 2:1.

As stated by Major Nelson, it’s interesting to see how the other platform holders are spinning this news in their favor, much the same as Microsoft would if it weren’t number 1 this time around.

Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime tries to seem unaffected:

The Wii went up against the self-proclaimed ‘biggest entertainment launch ever’ and we emerged with our best month of the year.

They fired their bullet and our gun is loaded and ready to fire throughout the holidays.

While Sony does what Sony does:

According to NPD data, September 2007 was a strong month for the PlayStation brand, which showed a 13% increase in total retail dollars generated year-over-year in the US with total sales of $337 million for the month.
PS3 continues to maintain an overall increase in sales, with 119K units sold at retail for the month. Also, with the new $399 40GB PLAYSTATION 3 SKU hitting store shelves on November 2nd, a new $499 price point for the 80GB model effective immediately, and highly anticipated titles available this holiday, such as Racthet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the PS3 is poised for very strong performance through the holiday season and into 2008.
The PSP had a great month, selling 285K units for the month. Success at retail is due to the release of the new slimmer and lighter PSP in North America which includes video-out capabilities for $169, the success of the Star Wars and Daxter Entertainment Packs, and the release of great titles such as Syphon Filter: Logan’s Shadow.
PS2 sales remained very strong for the month of September, selling 215K units, making it one of the best-selling consoles on the market.

As in a move thats synonymous with Nintendo, the “Sales Saga” must continue forward, because our Xbox 360 sales king princess is in another castle next month.

TXD Desktop Wallpaper

Source: thexboxdomain.com

XBDlogowallpaper1024x768foldsjpg.jpg

A good long while ago, I created the following wallpaper for this here crazy place known as The Xbox Domain. The logo was done (for now), but there was a need to flaunt it somewhere else other than at the top of this here site, so I decided that it of course needed to be on my desktop as well. The result that I came up with more or less felt sufficient in its simplicity. I’ve had it plastered as my desktop wallpaper on both my desktop machine and laptop for months now. Surely its about time that all of you should have it as well. There are more ideas for additional designs, but these 3 are it for the moment.

If you’d like more resolutions for your bound to be oddly proportioned monitor then hit me up with a line of wisdom for not giving you your needed resolution already. I’ll add them to the community site as they get done. Throw it up as the wallpaper on your computer or how about putting it on a usb memory stick or through Windows media center to use it on your Xbox 360 Dashboard.

In the immortal words of Cheapy D and Wombat. “There you go!”

Ben Heckendorn to build yet another Xbox 360 laptop

Source: thexboxdomain.com

xbox-x.jpg

Anyone that follows the mad genius mod work of Ben Heckendorn is in for another Xbox 360 laptop yet again. This though is going to be fashioned with the styling of the Xbox 360 Elite, HDMI and all. Previously was the PS360 controller and his one handed 360 contoller.

This time the laptop is being done per tons of request for him to do so, and the enjoyment of money( money was so last-gen, how dare him. Ha!). The proposed specs are pretty nice:

  • Xbox 360 Elite based, 120 gig hard drive.
  • Built-in WiFi.
  • New design.
  • HDMI - DVI adapter to allow digital video on the LCD screen. Probably still a 17″ widescreen.
  • Some sort of different cooling system, a little more refined than last time.
  • Whatever color the buyer wants!
  • Delivery by end of summer / early fall.

Unfortunately for those of us that are short on cash, you’ll be non to happy when you read the terms for the laptop that say that there is a “Minimum” offer of $3,500. Oh Dear! Are you in need of a 360 laptop that bad?
