First Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday trailer leaked from TGS 2008

The 3rd Birthday

The original Parasite Eve for PS1The first trailer for Parasite Eve 3: The 3rd Birthday has been revealed. It was apparently shown behind closed doors at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, giving gamers their first look at the Parasite Eve series since Parasite Eve 2 was released for the PS1 way back in 2000.

The trailer is nothing but some beautiful CG, with no gameplay shown, but it’ll definitely serve the purpose of getting Parasite Eve fans charged up for this newest entry that will be coming exclusively for PSP (It was originally announced for cell phones, but thankfully they shifted focus to the PSP).

Dissidia: Final Fantasy TGS 08 gameplay videos

Dissidia Final Fantasy logo

Square had Dissidia: Final Fantasy playable at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show. Dissidia does not have an announced release date outside of Japan (where it hits on December 18th) but Square Enix would be foolish not to release this celebration of the Final Fantasy series 20th anniversary stateside.

If you haven’t heard of Dissidia, it is an upcoming PSP “fighting” game where you use everyone’s favorite characters from the entire Final Fantasy universe and fight in one-on-one duels with other all-star characters. You can think of it as Square Enix’s answer to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl (although it’s apparently only a single or two-player game, no hint of online support).

Major characters that you can play as in Dissida include: Titus from Final Fantasy X, Squall from Final Fantasy VIII, Kefka from Final Fantasy VI, Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Zidane from Final Fantasy IX, Cecil from Final Fantasy IV, Garland from Final Fantasy I and, of course, Cloud from Final Fantasy VII (although he’s yet to be fully revealed), among many others. The group of heroes and villains is truly an all-star cast.

And like Super Smash Bros., the game does not play like a traditional fighting game. As you can see in these gameplay trailers from the 2008 Tokyo Game Show.

And here are the previously released Characters trailer and the second released trailer for the game.

New Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia TGS 08 trailer

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Order of Ecclesia for DSCapcom saw fit to release a new trailer for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show, as the game’s release date is nearly upon us. It hits U.S. shores, exclusively for Nintendo DS, on October 21st (two days before it hits Japan).

Order of Ecclesia is the newest game in the Castlevania series and is the follow-up to the last DS title, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin (which was a sequel to Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow) and takes place after Castlevania: Symphony of the Night in the Castlevania timeline.

In Order of Ecclesia players take on the role of Shanoa, female member of the Ecclesia, which is an organization that has sworn to defeat the evil forces of Dracula. By using the new Glyph attack system, gamers will be able to unleash over 100 different combinations to battle Dracula’s minions throughout 20 explorable areas.

Here is the newest trailer for the game, which shows off some nice, stylish cut-scene animation, with interesting artwork, and then cuts to actual gameplay.

The game is an upcoming adventure title for the PlayStation Portable, in development at Sony. In the game you play as a criminal negotiator, who must work with other detectives to negotiate hostage situations and kidnappings and solve the various cases.

Looks like PSP gamers will finally get some adventure-gaming love after the DS has hogged the market with excellent adventure games like Hotel Dusk, Another Code, Time Hollow, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, and many others.

Here is a look at the game’s debut trailer.

Arc Rise Fantasia TGS 08 trailer videos for the Wii-exclusive RPG

Arc Rise Fantasia is an upcoming Wii-exclusive RPG that was first unvieled in the pages of the popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu.

The game is being developed by imageepoch and published by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan, and features people on the development team who were involved with Namco’s Tales RPG series (the latest of which is Tales of Hearts for DS). That includes Hiroyuki Kanemaru, who was the scenario script director and level concept designer for Tales of Symphonia. Other people on the development team have worked on Tales of the Abyss, Luminous Arc, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Shadow Hearts, Xenosaga, and others.

Story:
Arc Rise Fantasia is set in the empire of Meridian. Creatures called “Contaminant Dragons” are causing a lot of trouble as they pass the Meridian in flocks. If one is killed, the resulting explosion poisons the local area. When the empire receives word that a massive horde has its sights on the capital of Diamant, it immediately sends out an army to fight them, including Bright, a cool and collected novice mercenary, and his friend Alse, the beloved prince and second in line for the throne. Bright is severely injured during the battle, but is saved by a girl named Ryphia, who has secrets in her past and possesses the power to control “ley squalls,” naturally-occurring storms of magic that usually take the form of luminous rain.

As for the game itself, the goal of the team is to create a modern day “classic Japanese RPG” that is heavily inspired by the standard RPG conventions we’ve known and loved since the 80’s. Naturally, the game will be turn-based and will feature three-person parties.

For more info on the game, check out these new trailers from the Tokyo Game Show 2008.

Tales of Hearts of the second Tales game to come to the Nintendo DS, the first being Tales of Innocence, which has still yet to be released outside of Japan.

Tales of Hearts was on hand at the Tokyo Game Show 2008 where new details have become available.

Here is a list of new information on Tales of Hearts for DS:

* Talking to GameSpot, the game’s producter, Hideo Baba, says he wishes for fans to send a strong message to the game’s publisher Namco, because the game does not yet have a U.S. release date.

* During combat, one button is for standard attacks, while another performs Artes (magic spells).

* Battles take place on a strictly 2D plane this time.

* Strategy in battles will come from the height of your opponents, which will be a major factor to the combat. You’ll need to pay attention to both the horizontal and vertical planes.

* Combat has been compared with that of Tales of Destiny and Tales of Phantasia.

* The touch-screen will come into play with Support Attacks. Touch a character on the lower-screen to have them pop-in to the battle and unleash an attack. This can only be performed depending on your Support Gauge. Attacks can be standard, Artes or even items. The touch-screen will be limited to Support Attacks.

* Time Support Attacks correctly to complement your attacks for an Ultimate Attack for extreme damage.

* There will be an additional gauge known as the Emotions Gauge, which will reportedly fill as you block. Although it depletes your attack, a full gauge will allow you to string together more attacks for additional damage.

* The famous story skits will play out in both story and gameplay sequences.

* The Japanese release will be in two versions, one that features CG cut-scenes, and one that features anime cut-scene.s

Give the game a look in these videos and trailers.

Culdcept DS TGS 08 gameplay video

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Culdcept DS is the upcoming DS port of the Trading Card Game meets Monopoly video game that has been previously released on the PlayStation 2 and, more recently, on the Xbox 360 as Culdcept Saga (complete with online play).

The DS version will feature all new cards as well as revised ones from past editions of Culdcept. This version should also feature online play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Overall there are over 370 card types in this game if you include the new ones, including some insanely powerful new cards.

Culdcept Saga for Xbox 360Card illustration will once again be handled by Satoshi Nakai, who did the card pictures in the previous iterations, and the game is being developed by Omiya Soft (who also did the previous games) and published by Sega. Although there is no release scheduled for outside of Japan yet.

The game is based on the console additions so it should contain all the stuff that one would look for in a Culdcept game. Though it will also include adjustments on the overall game balance and a revision of card abilities. In addition, the basic rules will be easier to understand as they added features from the Dreamcast version, Culdcept Second, to make the game easier to play and learn to better suit the DS’ younger skewing audience. The game is scheduled for release this year in Japan.

Castlevania Judgment new TGS 08 trailer and gameplay videos

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Pre-Order Castlevania Judgment for WiiCastlevania Judgment is playable on the show floor at the 2008 Tokyo Game Show in Japan and that has brought us new gameplay footage of the Wii fighting game in action as well as a new trailer.

The game is scheduled for release in the United States on November 18th and in Europe in the first half of 2009 (with a Japanese release on January 15th, 2009). Keep in mind that this is the Wii fighting game spin-off, NOT the new next-gen Xbox 360/PS3 Castlevania.

Like a lot of things from TGS 08, the video isn’t the best quality given that it was taken off of the screen with a camera, but regardless you still get to see new video of the game in action.

Including the trailer, there is new gameplay footage of Death, Maria and Simon duking it out. Looks pretty fun to me, much in the vein of Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Capcom’s Power Stone series.
