Namco Bandai announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2008 that Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion will also be released on Xbox 360, aside from the previously known PlayStation 3 release. It seems big-name unpaid exclusives are hard to find for console makers nowadays. While the next-gen game was originally expected in late 2008, the below new trailer shows the fighting game will be released in fall 2009.
The king of the Iron Fist tournament returns for the 6th time. Who will dethrone Jin Kazama as head of the Mishima Zaibatsu? Watch the Tekken 6 characters fight in this new TGS 08 trailer.
The Bloodline Rebellion expansion of Tekken 6 will bring the total number of characters to 40, and 4 new stages with bring it to 16 total. The customization has been given a upgrade as well. This expansion will arrive at arcades in Japan this December. The PS3 version …. is late 09 I don’t even have Tekken 6 at the local arcade.
The 2 new characters are Alisa Boskonovich (I assume she’s Dr. Boskonovich’s daughter?), and she’s a fighting robot. And Lars Alexanderson is the other new character. Photo of them here:
If you watch the video below you’ll see some items moves. Xiaoyu’s item is funny. If it hits, it turns the opponents head into a panda head, lol. You’ll see Alisa Boskonovich’s item move at the very end too.
Tekken 6 will have the largest number of characters ever seen in a Tekken game with a total of 41 characters, according to director Katsuhiro Harada (who also did Tekken 5). All Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection characters will be returning (except Jinpachi Mishima) with 6 new additional characters added. Namco Bandai’s fighting game is expected to arrive on PlayStation 3 in late 2008 after Soulcalibur IV’s release.
When you click on each Tekken 6 character’s name below, a window will pop up with a picture of him / her.
Here’s an introduction of the new characters in Tekken 6. The first new character, Zafina, is a female who will have moves Harada likened to that of a “spider” and who enters the tournament to prevent the clash of the “two evil stars.” The second character, Leo, is a German who is intended to be a character who can be played by beginners and experienced players alike. The death of Leo’s mother prompts Leo to begin investigating the Mishima Zaibatsu. The third character, Miguel, is a Spaniard with a passion for fighting, but no real discipline. Miguel wants to exact revenge upon the death of his sister at her wedding. The fourth character, Bob, is an American who is known as a martial arts genius. Due to being unable to defeat larger opponents however, he disappeared from the fighting world, determined to increase his weight and power while still maintaining speed. Bob enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to test his new skills. Azazel is the final boss of the game. Azazel’s story is said to be related with Zafina and Julia Chang’s story in Tekken 6 and the confrontation between Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima. NANCY-MIS47J is a hidden sub-boss, whose story says she is an upgraded version of the Jacks for the Mishima Zaibatsu. The official Tekken 6 website shows one more space on the selection screen which may be used for Azazel or another unlockable character.
Watch 9 minutes of Tekken 6 fighting gameplay from the arcade version that was released in Japanese arcades on November 26th, 2007. It includes a look at the full character select screen as well.
Tekken 6’s storyline has also been reported by Wikipedia: “Jin Kazama has been revealed as the winner of the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, and has begun using the Mishima Zaibatsu for world conquest, declaring war on several nations and even space colonies until the entire world is at war.
Meanwhile, Kazuya Mishima has discovered the division of G Corporation that tried to kill him, and takes his revenge by murdering them all. Kazuya then takes control of G Corporation and uses it as the only power in the world to counter the Mishima Zaibatsu. By this time, the world sees G Corporation as its only saviour and Kazuya is viewed as a hero, although his true intentions are to kill Jin and steal his part of the Devil Gene to stop him interfering with his own plans for world domination. Using G Corporation’s newfound popularity to his advantage, Kazuya puts a bounty on Jin’s head, dead or alive. — Jin, having anticipated this, announces the King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to rid himself of Kazuya and his enemies once and for all.”
The 2009 Tekken movie filming has wrapped up and the movie is currently in post-production. The movie’s story seems to take place at or around the time of the Tekken 6 game. One of the actors in the movie has taken a picture for his Myspace page to show off how he’s dressed up to look like the fighting game character. The MMA star, Cung Le, has been casted as “everyone’s favorite restaurant owning drunkard”, Marshall Law, as you can see above. Joystiq also has a low-res picture of Jon Foo as Jin Kazama.
The Tekken movie storyline is described as: “Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world come to compete in the last and greatest sporting event of all time – the Fist Tournament. After World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.
We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a street fighter that enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon Tekken’s powerful and controlling Chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament. With the help of Lucas, an ageing Iron Fist Champion and fight trainer, Jin makes his way through the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.” — Via SDtekken
