Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix review video

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix artwork
The Capcom arcade classic receives a whole new look with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. Capcom maintains the integrity of the popular game by utilizing the original game code while upgrading the graphics with new artwork and high resolution 1080p images — all of the art, from character animation to stage backgrounds, will be completely redrawn by Udon Entertainment, the company responsible for the official US Street Fighter series of comics. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix includes both online and offline competition for one to two players.

Years of fine-tuning have led to another great Hadoken. Find out in this Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix video review.

To quote the IGN video review: “Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix doesn’t have any frills and its mechanics — while extremely well-tuned — are simple. This is a game very dissimilar to modern fighters because it doesn’t shower you with extra modes, art galleries or unlockables. It’s admirably precise and meant for hardcore players, despite its increased approachability. So HD Remix isn’t for everyone, but the gameplay represented in this download is extraordinarily balanced and deep. I spent hours learning the ways of the retooled Fei Long and just barely scratched the surface of it all. For such a reasonable price of $14.99, HD Remix is a very hard game to pass up.”

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix says “You’re the best, around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down!”

“You’re the best, around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down!” that’s the theme song to this new trailer for Capcom’s upcoming Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix which is scheduled for release in just nine days from now, on November 27th, 2008.

The game completely remixes the original Super Street Fighter II Turbo with upgraded HD character artwork (drawn by UDON Entertainment, who also did the Street Fighter comic book series), remixed music by the awesome video game fan remixer site OverClocked Remix (which I urge everyone to check out, it’s a great site with some great music) and, of course, full online play. You’ll also have the ability to play the original version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, either without the HD graphics or without the remixed music.

Features of Super Street Fighter II: HD Remix include:

* Classic/Remix (Rebalanced) Arcade mode
* Online and offline multiplayer
* A training mode
* Hit box display
* Both remixed and classic music
* Voice chat
* A ‘Quarter Match’ mode which allows players to spectate and jump into online matches simulating the arcade environment
* 8 player tournament mode
* Worldwide rankings and leaderboards arranged by character and country
* In-depth statistics tracking
* A display mode that fits the game into a 16:9 aspect ratio without impacting gameplay

SEGA vs. Capcom game commented on by Capcom

Marvel vs. Capcom on Sega DreamcastSEGA vs Capcom, does that sound like a good idea to you?

Well Capcom was asked about the likelihood of creating a SEGA vs Capcom game as reported by Nintendo Everything and offered this comment in reply:

One never knows. We have a lot on our plates at the moment with Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter 4 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom on the fighting front. We’ll see what happens down the line.” – Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

Ok that’s about as generic an answer as they come and doesn’t answer the question but it is interesting that they seem open to ideas. Personally I still hope that we see a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat game, THAT would be interesting.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Beta patched by Capcom

Gamers collectively shouted 'Shoryuken!' at the news of this patch

Capcom is patching Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix’s open-beta, according to the Capcom official blog.

This is in response to those who had complained that the beta for the game was broken due to connection issues and other pitfalls of pre-release software. Which comes as a very welcome change for fans due to the fact that Capcom had initially ignored their plight.

The patch will contain “several fixes for the open beta” and Capcom has stated that “the overall experience in the beta will be vastly improved.”

No further details or a release date for the patch have been announced, but Capcom promised those details, and the patches release, are coming soon.
