PlayStation Home gets 2 new spaces and a upgraded movie theater

Source: ps3blog.net

The US movie theater has just been one screen since the open Beta. Now it’s being expanded to 10 movie screens and a lobby. Some of the screening rooms may be giving stuff away too. Sony said that you might be able to watch full-length TV shows or movies in the screening rooms in the future.

Others updates is a Burn Zombie Burn space. Which has a zombie maze with exclusive prizes, and movies. Then MotorStorm Pacific Rift will get Game Launching. They are working a Space for MotorStorm as well. Here is a sneak peak.

Next (and this is very exciting) as of tomorrow, we will be launching a new event in PlayStation Home – the Fat Princess “Quest for Cake.” Based upon the brilliant PSN title which launches today, all you have to do is click on the PlayStation Events Space chip on your World Map to join in this very special confectionary quest.

You have to find 8 pieces of cake in the Home Space to feed the princess to get your reward, a Fat Princess Throne. Good updates Sony, keep them coming.

Uncharted 2 Will NOT Have a Mandatory Install

Source: ps3blog.net

For those of you who pre-ordered from Best Buy, apparently on the box, it says the game requires at least 1.7GB. Not to worry, though, as Naughty Dog has confirmed that the game will NOT require a HDD install, so those of us who still have the stock hard drive won’t have to worry about another game taking up precious space.

Naughty Dog even posted on their official Twitter account that there is no mandatory installation. According to Arne Meyer (Naughty Dog’s Senior Marketing Manager on NeoGAF), it’s most likely a printing error on SCEA’s part because the required space numbers match that of InFamous.

BUZZ! and Fight Night Spaces arrive in PlayStation Home

Source: ps3blog.net

The BUZZ! space actually looks pretty fun. I know I’ll be trying that out. Would be cool if down the line you could host a private event. Doubt that would happen, but just a thought. I can see this space being very popular. Hopefully it’s not hard to get into a game like some other Home spaces …

Here, you can meet up with friends new and old and take part in a massive 64-player game of BUZZ! trivia. This content is fed into the space via MyBuzzQuiz.com – a site where you can create your own trivia questions for your fellow BUZZ! fanatics to tackle. So be sure to create an account and start uploading your trickiest trivia. Then get your butt into Home, hook up with your brainiest peeps, enter the BUZZ! HQ, and start racking up the prizes. Rest assured that we’ll be taking advantage of this sweet new space by regularly scheduling some truly awesome events.

The robot boxing looks interesting. Nice to see more updates on a consistent basis. Club DJ doesn’t really interest me, but the mini golf might be good.

This swanky boxing-themed night club space launches with an interactive DJ game, rewards, and plenty of places to chill with your nearest and dearest Home-boys and Home-girls. Note that this is just phase one of the Fight Night space (there are tons of mini-game updates and the new virtual items scheduled for near future deployment)

Looks like Namco Museum Essentials will be available too. If you haven’t downloaded this from the Asian PlayStation Store, do it it’s great. You can unlock arcade cabinets for your Home apt, clothing, items for your apt, etc.

Nintendo President hints at Wii storage space solution

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Nintendo Wii hard diskNintendo President Satoru Iwata recently did Nintendo’s 07-08 Year End Financial Briefing Q&A. The total sales for the fiscal year just ended from Virtual Console and in a small part WiiWare (already launched in Japan, May 12th in the US and May 20th in PAL regions) was 7.8 billion yen (about $75 million)!

Mr. Iwata made a notable remark regarding the Wii’s internal memory (on storage space running out). To quote: “Statistically speaking, it is true that there are a small number of customers who feel that the flash memory is too small, while many others find that they have plenty of memory. However, because this small number of people are none other than the most avid players, we know we have to review the best possible solution to eliminate their inconvenience.”

Yes please, give us an external USB hard disk. Aesthetically speaking it’d be nice if it were in the shape of the Wii’s vertical stand. Since I doubt they’d allow third-party USB sticks to be loaded from. Right now I’m using a 2GB SD Card to store all games, but moving them back and forth is a bother. Besides, how long will anyone’s 512MB internal flash memory last once the bigger WiiWare games launch?
