Samba de Amigo for the Wii, the maraca-shaking Latin-music rhythm game has been updated with a new song pack that allows you to add three new songs to the game. The pack costs 500 Wii Points or $5 and all songs are master copies (i.e. the real deal, not covers).

Ready to rock the James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace theme in your Guitar Hero World Tour?!

Thanks to Activision you can, as the new theme from the upcoming movie (which hits theaters here in the US on November 14th) is available now for you to download and play to your hearts content!

The theme is called “Another Way to Die” and is a duet by Jack White and Alicia Keys, which marks the first time a Bond theme is a duet, and treads on mature new Bond-theme ground due to it’s insane fusion of jazz, rap, hip-hop and rock.

The track is up now and costs 160 Microsoft Points ($2.00) or $1.99 from the PlayStation Store.

Guitar Hero 4: World Tour delivers more ways to play than ever before. Virtual musicians can live out their rock and roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument, or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience.

In addition to all of the online gameplay modes from Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour introduces Battle of the Bands mode which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to determine who is the best of the best. In the Band modes, up to four players can jam together, online or off, as they progress through the game, and in single-player Career Mode, players can jam on any of the instruments in branching venue progression enabling them to rock out in the order of their choice.

To quote the IGN video review: “Guitar Hero World Tour is a fun title, to be sure, but it’s also a disappointment in a lot of respects. A number of things it tries to accomplish were already done better in Rock Band, which you might figure would have provided a simple blueprint to be followed and expanded upon, but that’s not the case. The music creation tools are a great idea in theory, but the end result isn’t as robust as I would have hoped it would be, both in terms of abilities as well as the songs that come out the other end. The game does have a good bit going for it and can serve to act as a stepping-off point for next year’s game, whatever form that might take.”

The Beatles’ extraordinary music and phenomenal legacy is set to rock across the universe in the form of a completely new videogame, through an exclusive partnership between Apple, MTV Games and Harmonix. The music game (which is not a Rock Band expansion pack) is expected to be out for holiday 2009.

This partnership marks the first time that Apple Corps, along with EMI Music, Harrisongs Ltd, and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, has agreed to present The Beatles music in an interactive videogame format. Published by MTV Games and developed by Harmonix, the world’s premier music videogame company and creators of the best-selling Rock Band, the game will be an unprecedented, experiential progression through and celebration of the music and artistry of The Beatles. The game was creatively conceived with input from Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, and enjoys their full blessing. In addition, Giles Martin, co-producer of The Beatles innovative LOVE project, will provide his expertise and serve as Music Producer for this groundbreaking Beatles project.

Activision has recently registered “Guitar Hero: Modern Hits” in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office database. This is no doubt one of the many planned sequels to Guitar Hero 4: World Tour. As the name suggests it’s a Guitar Hero: Aerosmith-like spin-off focused on modern-day music.

Here’s how the newly registered trademark for Guitar Hero Modern Hits is described: “An interactive videogame comprised of a cartridge or DVD sold as a unit with a videogame controller”, which 1UP states confirms that just like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith this game will ship as a boxed, retail product rather than as downloadable content.
