I didn’t … I guess they are picking people that are members of the PlayStation Underground. Which I have been part for a LONG time. Anyway the open beta for Qore #3 and people that pre-ordered still start in late September. Let us know if you got in or not.

In the meantime check out the Resistance 2 Site. At least more sites are incorporating the PSN Login - http://beta.myresistance.net/

If you see any of your friends playing “Girl With A Stick” it’s the R2 Beta lol

Resistance 2 Public Beta will start in September 2008

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Pre-Order Resistance 2 for PS3The Resistance 2 Public Beta will start this September 2008.

It was spread through the Internet that you could get into the beta via the third episode of the Playstation Network video series Qore, which would contain a Resistance 2 beta key. That is true, but that won’t be the only way to get in. Which is good news to international gamers since the Qore video series is only available in North America.

Straight from an Insomniac e-mail, here is what the developer had to say:

“Here’s the deal. We are running a public beta, and you will have many ways to get in. The best way which will give you the earliest access to the beta will involve a pre-order program that should be announced soon, (for those of you who don’t know what pre-ordering is, you essentially reserve your copy with five dollars down, and that five dollars will go towards the price of the game when it releases).

For all of you folks outside of North America [that] are up in arms because Qore is NA only, please don’t worry. This is one of many ways to get in, and we plan to make the beta available in all territories, as we need to test all servers and worldwide play.”

Not much more info is available on the Resistance 2 public beta test, who’s full version will support 60-player online matches, but we should hear more soon as the public beta date approaches.

Resistance 2 Beta - Two Ways to get in

Source: ps3blog.net

Like Darrin pointed out in the Shoutbox. The R2 Beta should be available in Qore on August 7th. The beta itself will be available in September. But another way to get in is to pre-order the game a Gamestop. I assume how the MGO beta worked.

I’m excited to try out the multiplayer in R2, but I think I’ll go the Gamestop route. I myself haven’t bought any Qore episodes yet. Which way are you going to do it?

More ways to get into Resistance beta than Qore, Europe not excluded

New Resistance 2 struggle and leviathan trailers from E3 2008

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Resistance 2 Leviathan Boss
Insomniac showed off new trailers with gameplay for the PlayStation 3-exclusive FPS Resistance 2 at E3 2008. The FPS breaks new ground with 8-player co-op, 60 player competetior multiplayer modes and community features. Truly delivers scale. HUGE bosses in both single and co-op. Expansive environments. Giant chimeran warships you can board around the country.

This struggle may now be forever long…

Going into more detail on Resistance 2’s campaign gameplay; you get to fight against a gigantic, 300 foot tall Leviathan enemy/boss! It’s like Cloverfield! The below video shows how the game’s protagonist Nathan Hale gets picked up and shoots this huge beast in the mouth… He then climbs inside buildings and runs up flights of stairs. Upon reaches walkway, that gets broken behind him as he runs from the pissed off monster. He then goes outside through broken window, is picked up, shoots the monster in the mouth but then is thrown away. It shows him flying through windows to another building.

If you have any tips for Nathan how to take down a walking football field, he’ll gladly hear from you…

Resistance 2’s Leviathan revealed in new screenshots

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Resistance 2 Leviathan BossThe August issue of the American GamePro Magazine reveals screenshots of Resistance 2’s Leviathan!

The 300-foot-tall, skyscraper-smashing monster is revealed via a 10-page cover story, where you’ll get to read the first details and see the first images of one of the boss Chimera in the game, called “Leviathan”. GamePro also got to play through a lengthy section of the Chicago single-player level as well as got a detailed account of the 8-player online co-op and competitive multiplayer modes.

Thankfully, as a preview to the magazine’s cover story, a screenshot of the Leviathan has already been shown (above). Enjoy. )

Resistance 2 - Splitscreen Options

Source: ps3blog.net

I’m about to make all you folks out there who tire of my splitscreen discussions even more sick of me! )

With all the talk and footage about Resistance 2 recently, a friend of mine remarked that he hopes that it has a splitscreen mode so that he and I could play through it together, much like we did with the original Resistance.

If I remember correctly, I think that Resistance 2 does indeed have a 2 player splitscreen co-op mode. So we should be fine there. But this brings up other questions.

My main question is this: what kind of 4 player splitscreen modes will Resistance support?

I assume it’ll support the old fashioned 4 players against one another in deathmatch or whatever modes. If anyone can confirm this, that would be great.

But remember Warhawk? That game where you can go online with 3 of your buddies, playing splitscreen? This is quite common in the Xbox 360 world, but it isn’t very common in ours. Will Resistance 2 support going online together as a group, much like Warhawk did? And will it be only for multiplayer matches like Warhawk, or will you be able to play the 8 player co-op campaign with others? For that matter, what about not even going online to play the 8 player co-op campaign? You could play it with 4 players.

So here are all the options in a list. If anyone can confirm or deny any of them, I’d love to hear from you:

  1. Local 2 player splitscreen co-op.
  2. Local 4 player splitscreen multiplayer (deathmatch, team deathmatch, ctf, etc).
  3. Online 4 player splitscreen multiplayer (like Warhawk).
  4. Local 4 player splitscreen co-op (doing the 8 player co-op campaign, but locally).
  5. Online 4 player splitscreen co-op (four players at one location, playing with up to four from the internet).

Whew!

Awesome Resistance 2 Videos

Source: ps3blog.net

The first video is of Resistance 2 multiplayer, which is going to be incredible:

The second vid is the Chicago gameplay footage:

The 3rd vid is showing off the new Grim creatures:

I’m very biased when it comes to Resistance. I loved the multiplayer (for the most part) so I’m really looking forward to Resistance 2, plus the single player was pretty good in its own right. The 8 player online co-op should also add a lot to the game. Can’t wait!
