First Pokemon Ranger 2 video confirms it includes a Riolu Egg or Manaphy Egg for Pokemon Diamond or Pearl

Pokemon Ranger 2 egg screenshotIn the upcoming Q2 2008 Nintendo DS game Pokemon Ranger 2, known in Japan as Pokemon Ranger Batonnage, there will be a special mission that after completion will allow for you to send a Riolu Egg or Manaphy Egg to your Pokemon Diamond or Pearl games.

I’m sure you remember how to get the Manaphy Egg in the first Pokemon Ranger game. But Pokemon Ranger 2 lets you get your hands on the Riolu Egg that contains the pre-evolved form of Lucario. In the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl games there is only one Egg from which Riolu evolves and that is given to you after you’ve completed the Iron Island maze and defeated the Galactic Grunts. It evolves through Happiness in the daytime (4Am to 8PM). It says in the Pokedex that Riolu can use “aura” to project its emotions and feelings.

Pokemon Ranger 2 DS exploration screenshotThe latest issue of the Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro has confirmed Pokemon Ranger 2 for Nintendo DS. In Japan the game is titled Pokemon Ranger: Batonnage and will be released there on March 20th, 2008. If the first game from two years ago is any indication, expect an American/Canadian/Australian release in Q4 2008 and Q1 2009 for Europe.

The action-RPG elements are said to be the same as the first Pokemon Ranger game, but the below list explains what’s new in the sequel:

Pokemon Ranger 2 DS town screenshot* The game takes place in a region called Almia (or Arumia).
* The main character is a male called Hajime (which means: Start/Begin), but you can select either a male or female character. They have both just graduated from Ranger School.
* There will be appearances from a number of 4th generation Pokemon, including Darkrai, Lucario, Heatran, and Cresselia.
* You can select your support partner out of 17 possible combinations: Munchlax, Kricketot, Mime Jr., Cranidos, Croagunk, Machop, Shieldon, Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig, Pachirisu, Starly, Snover, Misdreavus, Hippopotas, Sneasel, and Gible.
* Aside from the main missions you’ll be doing in the game, there will be side-quests in which you help towns.
* You can collect cards to boost up your Capture Styler, for example an Electric one which lowers Electric Damage to your styler by 3.
* You can Surf on Pokemon during certain sections of the game.
* Use for the online Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is included, but details are unknown.
