PlayStation Store Update 7.2.09

PlayStation Store

I never saw anything about the Punisher game. Look any good? Then some PSP love this week. Anything for you?

Oh, just curious have any of you purchased these “Premium PS3/PSP Themes”? I myself would never buy one of those, because I could just make one myself. If you did buy one, is it just the standard icons with different wallpaper?

Source: ps3blog.net

The video explains the differences between the PMC’s. Hopefully they release a beta or demo of this. I would love to try it out. If I got this game I’ll probably go with Raven or SVER. What about you?

I think this game has great potential, hopefully people give it a chance.

PS3 Slim in Production?

Source: ps3blog.net

Apparently, Hon Hai Precision Industry Company Ltd. has been awarded a contract for a “hardware variation of the PlayStation3” and the report, according to IGN, states that “the new hardware will be a smaller, lighter version” of the system.

Not only that, but the report also says that the systems are supposed to start shipping in July. No official word from Sony on this, and if it is true, then Sony has very little time for an official announcement. Please take this with a grain of salt.

I would like to know how many different game modes & levels will be available in multi-player. How long is the co-op mode? Can you unlock items from MP and co-op to use in single player or vice versa? Will Uncharted 2 support Home game launching?

What questions would you like answered?

Specifically, we’ll have Creative Director Amy Hennig and Game Director Bruce Straley from Naughty Dog on board, so do whatever you can to be here at 2PM Pacific tomorrow armed with your Uncharted 2 questions.

Tekken 6 – Ganryu vs King

Source: ps3blog.net

Tekken 6

This is actually a match that happens a lot between my friends and it’s about 50/50 most of the time. Lately King has been winning more though. My friend Matt plays Ganryu and I play as King. Ganryu was never much of a threat until Tekken 5 and he looks just as lethal in Tekken 6.

Film Adaptation of Uncharted: Drakes Fortune Official

Source: ps3blog.net

That’s right, it’s been officially confirmed. Would have had this posted on Saturday, but I did leave it in the Community. No word on casting or anything like that, but here’s info from the Official PlayStation Blog:

I am happy to confirm that it is indeed true, Sony Computer Entertainment has signed a deal with Columbia Pictures for a movie adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and it will be produced by Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner. We have been working with Avi and the folks and Columbia for quite some time and look forward to sharing additional details on the film in the short future. Obviously we designed the game to be a cinematic experience and we too can’t wait to see it on the big screen.

Details are still a bit short, but, according to the Hollywood Reporter, it will take place during the first Uncharted game:

The story follows a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is racheted up several notches when creatures — actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis — begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure’s true secrets.

We all know the usual happenings when either a game gets adapted into a movie, or a movie into a game, but hopefully we won’t have to witness the same fate for this great series. If done right, considering the cinematic quality of the game, this could potentially be a very good thing. Hopefully they don’t screw it up!

Is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Worth It?

Source: ps3blog.net

Blu-ray

I decided to “upgrade” my copy to the Blu-ray version. Man I’m glad I did, the visual quality is outstanding. Plus the extra scenes (26 minutes worth) really help complete the story actually. Some small details you’ll notice is the characters now get bloody and dirty during the battles. More so during the Sephiroth battle.

So is it worth it? I say yes. It’s only $22.99 right now at Amazon so that’s not bad. It was the 2nd best selling Blu-ray during it’s first week of release in America too.

According to the Nielsen VideoScan BD charts, the film trailed the #1 BD release, Paramount’s Defiance film, by only 14% in sales.

Advent Children Complete reportedly sold over 100,000 copies on its first day in Japan in April, although there were three different versions issued in that country on that day. The original North American and European DVD releases of Advent Children sold 1.4 million copies as the #1 anime DVD release of 2006.

The extras aren’t bad either. They have 2 or 3 videos that give you a brief overview of the actually game. Showing some of the CGI movies and gameplay from FFVII and other titles relating to FFVII as well. I myself got board watching them after a while though. Then an back story of Denzel, which is Anime not CGI, which as good.
