Play Fallout 1 for free online via GameTap

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Fallout for PCThe first Fallout game from 1997 can now be played for free online via GameTap’s “play free” section.

Here’s what you do in the RPG that’s rated M for Mature with Animated Blood & Gore. “It’s the year 2161, 84 years after a two-hour-long war that destroyed most of civilization. Mankind soldiers on, living out a hardscrabble life on the surface or holing up in great Vaults built inside caves. You’re a member of Vault 13 somewhere in Southern California, and the Vault Overseer’s got a job for you: find a replacement water purification chip within 150 days, or your home is doomed.”

With Fallout 2 from 1998 also recently having been added to the service, you can play both futuristic RPG adventures to your heart’s content until Fallout 3 arrives on October 28th, 2008.

Play The Sims game online before it closes on August 1, 2008

Source: videogamesblogger.com

The Sims Online for PCBack in 2002 The Sims Online game (download link) for PC gave fans gameplay similar to The Sims in a persistent online world that lets you share the Sims experience with others. Play was free, although there’s a paid subscription for $10 in America and €11/£8 in Europe.

But did you know since February 27th, 2008, The Sims Online was renamed to EA-Land? However, now the MMOG is scheduled to be shut down on August 1st, 2008. As of the 1st of May 2008, the community started a Player Campaign to keep the game alive. Apparently ideas by fans range from quadrupling the Sim population to making an offer to buy the game from Electronic Arts and having a user owned world, one that runs on private servers. The problem with ideas like “buying” the game from EA is that EA owns the rights to The Sims, so this just won’t happen.

As operative JC Denton, you have a difficult decision to make: do you complete your mission and ensure the safety of the rich and powerful, or do you rebel for the sake of the millions who would be doomed without you?”

* CPU speed greater than or equal to 500 MHz
* OS Type equal to 32-bit

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gameplay wrapped into one bundle of joy

Source: thexboxdomain.com

Inside of me the hype I feel for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is slowly reaching a boiling point which hopefully will explode this summer. After so many subpar Star Wars games could this new title be a wonderful next-gen experience wrapped in Star Wars lore?

The only thing that could possibly worry me is could levitating enemies get a bit boring once the novelty has worn off?

McDonald’s UK boss claims video games are the major cause of the childhood obesity

Source: videogamesblogger.com

McDonald's versus videogamesSteve Easter brook, chief executive of McDonald’s UK, admits restaurants have a role to play in obesity, but claims video games are the major cause of the childhood obesity crisis in the UK. He claimed games have reduced the amount of time young people spend outdoors “burning off energyâ€?. Don’t worry though, he explains himself well.

To quote: “The issue of obesity is complex and is absolutely one our society is facing, there’s no denial about that. But if you break it down I think there’s an education piece: how can we better communicate to individuals the importance of a balanced diet and taking care of themselves? Then there’s a lifestyle element: there’s fewer green spaces and kids are sat home playing computer games on the TV when in the past they’d have been burning off energy outside.â€?

In a case of pot meet kettle, McDonalds UK is on the brink of its best year for two decades. The firm has enjoyed 6% like-for-like sales growth in the last year. More than 88 million visits were made to McDonald’s restaurants last month, up 10 million on the previous year. — Quotes via MCVuk

It’s funny, I was talking about this last year with a friend, cause we noticed that compared to how much we played outside with our friends growing up. Nowadays you see kids playing outside less and less, and in our cities it’s not because it’s unsafe, so we also figured it was because kids were playing on computers more instead.

Source: thexboxdomain.com

untitled4.jpg

Did you delete the Burnout Paradise demo off your hard drive? Well you might want to fire that bad boy back up. Starting today (January 4th) and running through January 14th the Burnout Paradise demo will have 8 player multiplayer enabled.

Here is what Criterion stated on their website.

With it, a total of 13 new Freeburn challenges will be available for players to attempt – 3 challenges in 5, 6 and 7 player sessions, and 4 new challenges for those playing in 8 player sessions.

Burnout Paradise offers a true open world environment built for intense speed, excitement, and exploration.

I’m not really the biggest racing fan but I’m a sucker for destruction. Burnout Paradise will be a buy for me.

Stalker debuts on Xbox Live, goes game over and gets arrested

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Xbox Live online gaming and chatting
While Xbox Live is obviously meant to game, chat and make friends, it’s rare you get such a good warning to be careful who you talk to. In Spokane, Washington, a 20-year-old American man was arrested on felony stalking charges after chatting to a 15-year-old girl on Xbox Live and eventually threatening to rape the girl and her sister.

Joshua Stetar of Saratoga Springs, New York met the girl by playing Halo and chatting with her online since 2006. Gamerush reports he sent packages and flowers to her home, all of which her parents returned. He also began text messaging her several hundred times on her cell phone, forcing the girl’s mother to change her daughter’s number.

Let’s not go into the freaky details how he found out where she lives, but after the crazy nut drove for 40 hours straight to get from New York to Spokane, then at around 9PM Friday last week Stetar sent a text message saying that he was driving by her house at the moment. The girl’s parents in fact saw his car drive by. A few minutes later, Stetar sent another text message stating, “Tell the cops that I’m gonna rape you and your sister.”

The girl’s father called police, and officers found the suspect staying at a nearby Econo Lodge motel. Stetar was booked into Spokane County Jail on one felony count of stalking. He was released on bond Saturday.
