Scribblenauts revealed for DS by 5th Cell

Scribblenaughts has been revealed by 5th Cell (who developed Drawn to Life and Lock’s Quest) exclusively for DS.

Scribblenaughts is an ambitious project whose premise has you writing words to solve puzzles (collecting “Starites”) on levels. The hook though is that you are supposedly able to write anything and what you write will come to life and be used in the game (the game will automatically know what to do with the object).

Examples in the trailer show the player writing “football”, and then having the football drop into the world and using the football to knock the Starite down from a tree. Alternatively you can write ladder and use the latter to reach the Starite. Or you can write beaver and the beaver will cut the tree down.

It’ll be really interesting to see how far they take this premise and if you can truly use any word. I imagine that there are limitations or words that the game won’t recognize.

Either way, here is a trailer for Scribblenaughts exclusively for DS.

IGN has much more information on the game in their exclusive interview with the developer so be sure to check that out!

Pre-order Lock's Quest for DSLock’s Quest is a tower-defense-style game for Nintendo DS where you try to protect a group of inept friends from incoming attackers. Unlike those Flash games you might have played, Lock issues commands from the ground, running around small maps to build walls, turrets, and directly fight advancing enemies. The result comes together as a real-time strategy and action game, with light role-playing and puzzle-solving elements.

With the innovative use of the Nintendo DS stylus in Construction Combat: Lock’s Quest, players will be able to immerse themselves into the building and creating process. The game is being developed by 5th Cell, the creators of Drawn to Life, which was one of the top selling original properties developed for Nintendo DS in 2007. Lock’s Quest comes to DS on September 15th, 2008.

The makers of “Drawn to Life” present a new adventure for the DS. Watch the Lock’s Quest trailer:
