Marvel Costumes Coming to LittleBigPlanet

Source: ps3blog.net

fxxovn.jpg
Apparently, this concept art had been spotted at Comic-Con, showing little Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America Sack Boys. No word on when it will be released or whether or not it’s just those three or part of a larger pack. In any case, both IGN and Kotaku suspect that the costume pack will most likely coincide with the release of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. I think a Spider-Man and a Hulk costume should be included, as well as a whole slew of others. Imagine a Sack Hulk walking around with hands that look like those foam Hulk fists they sell in stores!

UPDATE
Turns out the Official PS Blog also posted this, with a few more bits of information:

Sony Computer Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment officially announced that they will be collaborating to create original LittleBigPlanet content based on the Marvel Universe. The news was revealed yesterday at Comic-Con International in San Diego during Marvel’s panel discussion highlighting the next generation of Marvel video games. To help illustrate what might be in store for fans, concept art of possible costumes were shown incorporating Iron Man, Wolverine and Captain America, however other characters will be considered.

In other words, this means that there will most likely be more than just these three. Cool.

LittleBigPlanet Reaches Over 1 Million Levels!

Source: ps3blog.net

WOW is the word to use here (because your jaw hitting the floor and making a *thud* sound isn’t exactly a word). This is simply amazing! According to the developers:

Just think, this means that a new level has been published roughly every 21 seconds since LittleBigPlanet launched.

They have also mentioned that all the levels have been played a total of 244 million times. That’s plain ridiculous! If you haven’t yet played LBP, once you’ve played the superb in-game levels/story mode, check out the user generated levels! Some are awe inspiring and even better than the ones that came with the game!

Also of note, MediaMolecule will have an announcement on August 18th. Given the time period between now and then, it’s going to be some big news. LBP2? More LBP for PSP info? A different game all together? It’s to be seen, but until then, get on LBP and check out the 1 million plus user created levels! Original post located on the Official PlayStation Blog.

Little Big PSP.

First Gran Turismo now Little Big Planet in game action on the PSP.

Looks great although if you hated the “floaty” jumping then you might not be too excited. All the PSP first party games are starting to look great though.

LittleBigPlanet 2 will play nice with old levels and LBP Demo Coming

Source: ps3blog.net

LittleBigPlanet 2

There isn’t an official announcement for LittleBigPlanet 2 just yet. But they said they would love to make one. If they did, all LBP 1 levels will be compatible. One way to go about it is to have a separate planet for LittleBigPlanet 1 levels and another for LittleBigPlanet 2.

“If you look at online distribution for LBP, when the sequel comes along, what do we do with all that content? We can give [consumers] backwards compatibility with those levels.”

Then a demo for LBP is coming, hopefully it has enough content in the demo for users to get hooked and create there own level.

It’s unclear whether any of the almost 2 million user generated levels will be playable in the demo, but it should “capture [the game's] essence.”

They are still actively working on LittleBigPlanet. So I wouldn’t expect LBP 2 anytime soon. Sounds like they are working on stuff other than new costumes, lol. Like sharing objects with other users.

More additions to the game are also on the way, such as one that was originally planned for the game, but axed along the way — sharing objects in a similar way to sharing levels. So more features — “changing the tools themselves, and changing how you share — are coming.”

Unfortunately it does not include level packs a-la Metal Gear Solid but on the plus side these costumes are super cute. More can be seen at Kotaku, which includes Slimer hats and Stay Puft costumes, there’s no word on a release date yet.

Media Molecule Working on New PS3 Exclusive

Source: ps3blog.net

littlebigplanet2

Hardly a surprise, but a job posting says that Media Molecule is expanding and currently working on a AAA PS3 title for Sony.

For those that missed LittleBigPlanet, it is arguably the best of this generation so far. The concept behind the game was excellent, but even more impressive was how well it was realized as a final finished and polished game.

After coming off that high point, Media Molecule must surely have big plans for a follow up.

Could this be a sequel to LittleBigPlanet or a completely new game in the same user-created content space?

(thanks ps3center)

LittleBigPlanet Search is horrible

Source: ps3blog.net

I recently published a level I made (Big T and Friends) and I can not find it using the search in LittleBigPlanet. My friends can’t find it either unless they are on my buddy list. I even went threw 50 pages of searched results and nothing! Then there are other levels I’ve heard are good to try and I search for those and no luck. The search comes up with the most random stuff sometimes.

Either the levels need a certain amount of time in the system before they are available to search for or the search needs a LOT of work. I’m leaning toward the later. You can’t even search by author or the full title of the level. I hope they fix this soon, it’s very annoying. Rant over.
