Penny Arcade Prince of Persia Storybook Speed Drawing

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Pre-Order Prince of Persia on PS3You may recall us covering the Prince of Persia Stories & Secrets Storybook when it was announced. If you haven’t heard of the online graphic novel, it is a collaboration between Penny Arcade’s Gabe & Tyco and Ubisoft as a really cool promotion for their upcoming hit game, Prince of Persia (which releases on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on December 2nd).

The storybook serves several purposes, not only does it add to the universe by giving us a prequel to the game’s main story revolving around Elika, but the book also is simply a great excuse to let Gabe and Tyco run wild with their own interpretations and artistic realizations of the Prince of Persia world. And last but not least, it’s a treat for fans of Penny Arcade who are some of the most rabid gamers around.

In this video we get to see behind-the-scenes speed drawing by Gabe (along with commentary on the collaboration between Ubisoft and Penny Arcade) of one of the pages of the online Prince of Persia storybook, which is getting new pages added leading up to Prince of Persia’s release on December 2nd (so far ten pages have been released, including the cover).

In addition, Ubisoft has posted an incredible artistic introduction to Prince of Persia which you can watch on the Official Prince of Persia web-site. The intro is AMAZING and is like a pop-up book coming to life. I am not sure either if it’s the actual game intro or just something put up for the web-site. So if you want to avoid all spoilers (although it’s nothing that hasn’t already been said) then you may want to hold off on watching it.

Red Alert 3 brings back everything fans enjoy about the series, from the fast, fluid and fun gameplay, to the humorous tone and distinct art style, while adding new innovations for the entire genre including three separate campaigns designed for fully co-operative play and an unprecedented emphasis on naval gameplay.

It’s the return to the over-the-top, time-altered universe of Red Alert, where parachuting armored bears, George Takei, war dolphins and psionic Japanese school girls can co-exist without question.

StarCraft 2 opening cinematic teaser from BlizzCon 2008

StarCraft 2 opening cinematic screenshot

StarCraft II’s opening cinematic set the BlizzCon 2008 crowd afire when Blizzard unveiled a teaser video of the intro to their highly anticipated RTS sequel. Even though the scene was simply a teaser, and not the entire sequence.

But once again Blizzard impresses with some mighty fine CG that is quite simply as top-notch as you can get. Although the opening cinematic isn’t as action packed as I thought it would be, given that this is StarCraft II. But regardless, the teaser video definitely has a very cool, Aliens-esque cinematic feel to it that is definitely worth checking out. And fans will be in for a treat.

Introducing: Rant Central

As a new feature I’ve been wanting to do for a long while now, what better time than to finally kick it off now. “Rant Central” will be a weekly feature where any and everything that’s deemed ripe for a rant of epic proportions is let loose onto the world with no regret in a intelligent way. No flaming here (maybe). Some will be enormous and some will be straight to the point. Will some of you be upset by what I have to say, you bet your butt you will be, but who can please everyone? Will I use profanity? Nope, gotta be kiddie safe no matter how much I may (often) want to.

As the podcast listening machine that I am, don’t be surprised when I unload a hot and heavy one about any given topic of conversation I hear. To Vicious 696, “I’ll have to say that I disagree”. Sure, I don’t get to listen to every podcast out there of course, but I do get to hear and watch a ton of shows that order in the number of around fifty that are just the gaming related variety.

With the release of Burnout Paradise nearly here, the first installment will be: Rant Central #1: Innovation: “It’s a trap”. Every Monday is on tap for this. If you want to call it a written analog to Zero: Punctuation with a little more restraint as far as four letter words, then that’s fine. Just remember that this is not limited to any one game or topic what so ever. See you soon.

Lost Odyssey opening cinematic defines beautiful!

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Lost Odyssey LogoThe opening for Lost Odyssey has been revealed and boy is it beautiful! And I don’t just mean beautiful graphically, in fact that’s not what I mean at all, but musically! You’ll see when you watch the video but this is just what the Xbox 360 needs, and the music in this intro is so good it nearly brings tears to my eyes. If this is anywhere close to what the rest of the game sounds like then it looks to me that Nobuo Uematsu easily has one of his best soundtracks to date. Watch the beautiful intro to Lost Odyssey below.
Lost Odyssey has a release date of February 8th 2007 in Japan and February 2008 in the US and Europe.
