Mother 3 Translation Patch to go Live soon

Source: infendo.com

Mother 3 was initially released on 2006 on April 20th, furthermore, it was intended to be a Japan only title. Most fans of the series were completely crushed when they discovered this. As the only Mother game to make it out of Japan was Mother 2, which is known as Earthbound.

Albeit, a band of dedicated fans with the hopes of one day playing Mother 3 in English decided to get together and make a fan translation. Which started soon after the game was released, the website they were using was as Mother3.org. However, they soon learned that they were one of two groups working on the translation (Starmen.net being the other), and eventually they decided to join forces to get the patch out as fast as possible

As it stands now the translation patch has been completed and they are almost finished with testing and are adding the final touches. Fans of the series will finally be able to play the game in English only after a two and a half year wait. The patch will apparently be out by the end of the week for all those to enjoy.

Cave Story original graphics vs. new updates

Source: infendo.com

Over at the official Cave Story blog, a recent update shows off one of the new in game sprite redesigns. Apparently people have been e-mailing them about seeing the difference between the original and the upscaled Wii version.

We want to show you a side-by-side comparison of what the original artwork looks like in contrast to the new pixel work done by Pixel (Daisuke Amaya). I probably don’t have to say much, but the image above has the idle frame for Toroko from both the original Cave Story (left) and the upcoming WiiWare version (right).

It should be also noted that it was mentioned that the Wii Update will have an option to choose between the original art style, and the improved one. This choice is will also work with the music of the game, which is receiving a remix as well. Which will allow you to mix and match what you prefer. It is really great to see that they are treating this remake/port with respect for the old fans.

Source: infendo.com

A group of coders going by the names MrFredman and MedO are working on a Team Fortress 2 bootleg “demake” in the style of very early NES games. Their demake is going by the name Gang Garrison 2 and so far they have made a working beta with online play and working characters. To find out more go view the website below, or download the game and give it a try.

Pirating Just got Worse on the Wii.

Source: infendo.com

Earlier today, news of a new homebrew coder named Waninkoko, has risen from the depths of the Internet. With his name he brought news of an working ISO loader for the Wii. The details are very sketchy as to how it works, but from what is swirling around the net is that it uses “a special program” to edit the ISO of a game. Aftewards you can burn it onto a DVD and use the Homebrew Channel to launch the burnt copy, allowing you not to have to worry about SD card space. To some this will be a glorious age of fun times, to other a dark age of problems and piracy wars. Who knows what will happen, but this is an interesting development, anyone for pirated Captain Rainbow?

3D Link’s Awakening Project

Source: infendo.com

Someone going by the moniker MithosKuu is undertaking a huge project to totally remake all the maps of Link’s Awakening entirely in 3D. So far all the person has completed is Mabe Village, which looks pretty impressive to me I have to say. When asked if he was going to do a full on 3D remake he responded with this.

I get this question every time I post about this, at the moment I am just modeling every area of the game, once it’s done I will attempt to turn it into a full on remake

So far it looks really good, I can’t wait to see the rest of the world in 3D.

Wii Hacked to play PS1 games?!

Source: infendo.com

Apparently a small group of homebrew coders are working on a new project called WiiSX. WiiSX is a Playstation 1 Emulator, that seems to be working really well on the Wii hardware. Although, it does have a few kinks, it’s pretty amazing how far the homebrew scene has come with consoles and handheld devices.

Wii Hacked to be Region Free

Source: infendo.com

StarFall

Apparently WiiBrew dev “Crediar” has released a Wii menu hack that allows you to edit some of the internal settings of the Wii. (Which could prove to be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing.)  You could say this is similar to the DVD Hack that was seen a few days ago, where you could play and watch DVDs on your Wii. However, Starfall is a hack that unlocks many of the Wii’s internal services, including games and certain channels, to become region free.

With this you can finally run that copy of Dairantou Smash Brothers X you bought thinking the Wii was region free to begin with, or even go and import some games that would never come out here. Let us all go and get that shinkansen game “Densha de Go!”. All in all, this is some interesting developements since WiiBrew developers seem to be doing amazing things with the Wii. I wonder what Nintendo’s response to all of this is going to be.

In case you’re still using VHS, the Wii now plays DVDs

Source: infendo.com

Engadget reports:

A team of Wii coders have given the console what Nintendo could not: DVD playback. By installing a small, hidden channel on a system, this package blesses the console with a libdi file (DVD access library), and allows you to watch your favorite videos with the MPlayer application, an open source media player. The install file will run on modded and unmodded systems, and the software is also capable of playing media from SD cards.

Are ye not entertained!!??

Trailer - Mother 3 (English Patch)

Source: infendo.com

Ever wonder what the whole hubbub is with the Mother universe? Why the games fans are so crazy about the characters and story, and why so many people are upset that the game wasn’t released in English? Here is a trailer for Mother 3 with 85% of the game fan translated. There is three videos that follow the game play of Chapter 1 of the Mother 3 world. if you like what you are seeing and want some more hit the jump for the other videos. On a side note, why do you think Nintendo has ignored the Mother fan base and only teases them with cameos and characters in Smash Bros?
