PlayStation Home logoSCCEE boss David Reeves has stated that the release date for the Home beta is still autumn this year, likely November 2008 for most regions (North America and Europe were mentioned). He expects Sony Computer Entertainment to announce a final release date shortly. Home is currently in a closed beta with 10,000 PS3 users. From July on the company will allow more players to gradually join Home and then in November the open beta will start (assuming it’s not further delayed).

This video walkthrough gives a look at the fun diversions players can enjoy while in the world of Home, Sony’s social gaming platform.

PS3 Home Beta delayed to Q1 2008

PlayStation Home logoJack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, has admitted that the PlayStation 3’s Home Beta (the upcoming avatar-based achievement and communication system) will not be out in 2007.

In an interview, the SCEA boss answered the question of where the beta is, by saying: “We’re looking to do a [Home] Beta in the first quarter of calendar 2008.” Which isn’t unexpected after the initial Home announcement for October 2007, but not too much of a delay. He goes on to point out that Sony is “not 100 percent sure on when the full-blown release will be in terms of an actual date.” — From Mercury, via 1UP
