Tec Toys to release handheld Mega Drive, sort of

Source: seganerds.com

Portable Mega drive

Brazilian-based company, Tec Toys, are adding another Sega device to their list, a portable Mega Drive.  Unfortunately not quite as cool as the Nomad- the real handheld Mega Drive, from Sega.

This ‘Portable Mega Drive,’ does not take Mega Drive/Genesis cartridges, instead, like so many other similar handhelds, has several built in games.

Some 20 games to be precise:

  1. Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
  2. Alien Storm
  3. Altered Beast
  4. Arrow Flash
  5. Columns III
  6. Crack Down
  7. Decap Attack
  8. Dr. Robotnik´s Mean Bean Machine
  9. Ecco the Dolphin
  10. Ecco Jr.
  11. E-SWAT: Cyber Police City Under Siege
  12. Flicky
  13. Gain Ground
  14. Golden Axe
  15. Jewel Master
  16. Kid Chameleon
  17. Ristar
  18. Sonic and Knuckles
  19. Shadow Dancer – The Secret of Shinobi
  20. The Revenge of Shinobi

While the device may not be able to play all Mega Drive titles, (that’s the dream), it does have some advantages over the Nomad, like; Less batteries (3 x AAA), a High-def screen (apparently), and A/V inputs so you can link the device up to a television, for that true console feeling.

I have to say, this is quite tempting, just as a cool Sega-related gadget to own, plus I like most of the games in the list.

The device is due for release December 5th, from Tec Toys, for $110 (about £55).

Benheck’s new single handed controller

Source: thexboxdomain.com

access_hero2.jpg

In a evolution of the first one handed controller created by Ben Heck is his new and improved revision of the original that garnered much attention the first time around. This one labeled the “Access Controller” has a newly designed chassis that you sit on your leg or a flat surface much like before, but now it has five removable sections that can be repositioned anywhere you want. Righty or lefty, it doesn’t matter. Now, where’s that controller that plugs directly into the back of your head ala Matrix Style?

There’s always room for a custom faceplate, right? If the answer is yes and your Legend of Zelda fan then the above custom faceplate is for you, that is if you bid on it and win. Created for the Xbox 360 owning Zelda fan.

The faceplate is gold in color with a gold medallion over the power button, which will activate the power button when pressed. Green light from the rings of light are visible around the edges of the shield, but the center of the button - the power light - is obscured.

If your interested then it would be wise to hoop to it, because the auction for the faceplate is over in just a little more than 2 days.

Got your hands-on the new messenger kit yet?

Source: thexboxdomain.com

Of course you don’t it doesn’t officially release for retail until September 6th, but Gamespot was lucky enough to snag one up and write a lengthy review of the device. The messenger kit will retail for $30 and for all that you get the chatpad along with a wired headset. They admit that the chatpad adds a little girth to the controller and feels a bit awkward at first but “the snug fit makes it feel like part of the gamepad.” They report that the keys are very responsive and are spaced far enough apart to ensure the user can type quickly and effectively. The chatpad uses the standard QWERTY layout and many of the keys have alternate uses making it a versitile tool. There is also a messenger button and a built-in backlight, in case you feel the urge to send a message in the dark.

At $30 can you really afford not to to buy a messenger kit? Seriously though, if you are like me and you just send voice messages all the time then it might not be of great use to you. Although, Gamespot admits that the peripheral might come in more handy if Microsoft were to release a Web browser for example. Even so you could always use it to text your buddies that are the computer at the moment. Maybe while your playing Halo 2 on your Xbox you can invite them to join you in the PC version of the game, who knows.

Here’s what the chatpad would look like on one of those sleek elite controllers

If you like Time Freezing raise your hand

Source: thexboxdomain.com

Okay let’s rewind to last year when the Timeshift demo was included in a issue of Official Xbox Magazine. Gamers simply hated it, I hated it, I didn’t see anyone who liked that god awful demo. Well over a year has passed, more development has been done on Timeshift and what do you know the game now looks pretty sweet.

I mean who doesn’t like freezing time and shooting your enemies, then watching them explode when time resumes? What am I talking about? Watch the video below

Ooooh Timeshift I will keep my eye on you.

Ben Heck’s one handed Xbox 360 controller

Source: thexboxdomain.com

Single handed Xbox 360 controller

The amazing mind of Ben Heck has spun another wild concoction. The piece that caught the glare of many eye’s the first time was his Xbox 360 laptop. This time it’s his one handed 360 controller. Initially this sounds like a great idea, but after some more thought I don’t really see the practicality of it. It sure looks cool in that homemade kind of way though! What do you think?
