Guitar Hero 4: World Tour review video

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Guitar Hero World Tour - Band Kit for Xbox 360Guitar Hero 4: World Tour delivers more ways to play than ever before. Virtual musicians can live out their rock and roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument, or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience.

In addition to all of the online gameplay modes from Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero World Tour introduces Battle of the Bands mode which allows eight players to join online and challenge each other band-to-band to determine who is the best of the best. In the Band modes, up to four players can jam together, online or off, as they progress through the game, and in single-player Career Mode, players can jam on any of the instruments in branching venue progression enabling them to rock out in the order of their choice.

Neversoft returns to the stage with a solid, though somewhat disappointing, performance. Find out all about it in this Guitar Hero World Tour video review.

To quote the IGN video review: “Guitar Hero World Tour is a fun title, to be sure, but it’s also a disappointment in a lot of respects. A number of things it tries to accomplish were already done better in Rock Band, which you might figure would have provided a simple blueprint to be followed and expanded upon, but that’s not the case. The music creation tools are a great idea in theory, but the end result isn’t as robust as I would have hoped it would be, both in terms of abilities as well as the songs that come out the other end. The game does have a good bit going for it and can serve to act as a stepping-off point for next year’s game, whatever form that might take.”

Activision considering DLC subscriptions for Guitar Hero World Tour

Source: infendo.com

More talk of possible ways to milk every penny out of Guitar Hero owners was discussed at a recent Activision-Blizzard analyst event. One such idea is a subscription service for the upcoming entry in the Guitar Hero franchise.

Looking even further out, we’re exploring new models, like an annual pass subscription where players can subscribe and get a certain number of songs downloadable each month.

-Activision Publishing CEO, Mike Griffith

Now before everyone throws up their hands in disgust…think about it. Purchasing a simple annual pass to download a large batch of content is not a bad idea at all especially when you compare it to RockBand’s DLC system (If the Wii version had DLC anyway). I could only see this becoming successful if they actually follow through with planned weekly music releases.

It took me many hours to make this list, so please enjoy.

Guitar Hero 4: World Tour’s features on video

Source: videogamesblogger.com

World Tour on WiiGuitar Hero 4: World Tour (or simply Guitar Hero World Tour) is the follow-up to the extremely popular Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock game that lit-up the video game world upon it’s release (alongside Rock Band).

The game will be coming out for Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2 in late October in both the U.S. and Europe this year.

This game is not to be confused with the already released Guitar Hero: On Tour for Nintendo DS, which is getting it’s own sequel called “Guitar Hero On Tour: Decades”. Notice the slight difference in subtitles, DS is “ON Tour” not “World Tour.”

Naturally the game will enhance nearly every aspect of Guitar Hero including the addition of instruments other than guitar, so that it is finally a complete “band” game (naturally to compete with Rock Band 2), but it also has unique features of it’s own.

Give a look at Guitar Hero: World Tour’s features in this video from E3 2008.

Activision leak: Guitar Hero 4 priced, Spider-Man Wii to use balance board?

Source: infendo.com

activisionleak.jpgJoystiq yesterday posted several new details on major upcoming Activision titles, based on information from an Intellisponse survey leaked on the popular NeoGAF gaming forum.

The juiciest details concern Guitar Hero: World Tour, which the survey states will be priced at $180 on all current-gen platforms, Wii included, and feature music from artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, Muse and “dozens more.”

Most compelling, however, are details about the game’s new “touch-sensitive” guitar. According to the survey, Guitar Hero: World Tour will utilize an “all new wireless guitar controller with the first-ever touch-sensitive neck slide,” apparently allowing for a more authentic guitar-playing experience than can be provided by mere buttons.

The survey also revealed an as-yet-unnamed Spider-Man title for Wii will use the balance board. From the survey:

“…Climb atop your Wii Fit Board to control Spider-Man’s acrobatic abilities like never before. Lean one way or the other to send Spider-Man soaring in the air. Jump as high as you can to propel Spider-Man off Manhattan’s tallest rooftops. Hop quickly to help Spidey climb walls and get a vertical advantage over his enemies. Stop your feet to kick and cartwheel foes in the city’s darkest alleys…”

In the last bits of Wii news in an otherwise 360-focused survey, a separate multi-platform Spider-Man game was also revealed. In Spider-Man vs. Marvel Zombies, as the title suggests, players control Spider-Man in a battle against zombified Marvel characters. The new Ultimate Band Wii trailer Blake posted earlier also emerged from this leak, and interestingly, a Tony Hawk game supporting a new balance board peripheral was revealed for 360 and PS3, but not Wii.

Also, beginning this holiday, Microsoft will offer an “Avatar” service to Xbox LIVE members allowing them to customize a miniature version of themselves, Nintendo-related only in how much of a rip-off it is.

Each of these tidbits, of course, should be considered a “rumor” until Activision confirms. It seems the E3 information leaks have begun.

Guitar Hero 4: World Tour is comprised entirely of master recordings from some of the greatest classic and modern rock bands of all-time including Van Halen, Linkin Park, The Eagles, Sublime and many more. GHIV: New Guitar changes leaked?

Source: infendo.com

ghivguitar495.jpg

In conjunction with today’s press release the official website for the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour was launched. Visual details surrounding the “changes” to the Guitar controller still remain unknown…until now. Want a quick sneak peak at what’s in store? The above snapshot (taken by our own Infendo Ninjas) is directly from the GHIV website. It shows what looks to be both the bass and lead guitars with the main 5 buttons up top, and a new set of 5 keys extending down the controller. No official word has been released by Activision concerning the new keys, but E3 looks to be the place to hear more info.

I think I hear Rock Band crying.
