Guitar Hero Versus Rock Band guitar compatibility

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Harmonix today mentioned that the new Wii version of the Rock Band guitar won’t be compatible with the Guitar Hero III guitar and vice versa. Sadly the same story is true for the PlayStation 3 (and presumably PlayStation 2) versions of both games. The Guitar Hero 2 & 3 owners on the Xbox 360 are in more luck as Joystiq’s “guitar compatibility guide” shows…

8/9 year old Guitar Hero 2 Master

Source: thexboxdomain.com

This has been seen by hordes of people by now no doubt, but if you haven’t seen this kid on expert destroy Guitar Hero 1 and now 2 on the Xbox 360 you’re in for a treat. Calling someone a freak of nature in this case is quite right. He’s 9 now, but being outclassed by someone who hasn’t even hit double digits yet is normally extremely embarrassing.  Who really cares when this kid is so good, right. Chris Paladino definitely has some stiff competition.

Here’s the same kid playing Freebird on the PS2

Guitar Hero 2 whammy bar patch available, but your 360 may not be afterwards

The long awaited fix for the Guitar Hero II sometimes nonfunctional whammy bar has been released, but don’t jump up and down with cheer just yet. After the patch was applied several people have reported that there Xbox 360 has now been put out of commission. Also sited on the Guitar Hero forums, it appears that the patch that was to save the day has actually made things much worse. Freezing and/or 3 red lights have been reported on several different sites.

Normally a patch is a good thing, but after this maybe not. As seen with the recent Gears of War update that seems to have made things a little to sticky, the patching of games on a console seems to of late been something that you might want to wait on if at all possible.

Using this new capability seems to be nothing more than a crutch for some Publishers/Developers to get games out the door on a more timely basis, versus making the tough decision to delay to fix known issues before shipping. Hopefully things like this never happen again. In the mean time, you might want to wait on the Guitar Hero II patch if you still want a working 360.

Here we go again. It’s Guitar Hero 2 petition time

With the release of downloadable content on the Live Marketplace for Guitar Hero 2, it may appear that the world is on fire over the price of the content. The comments on this site alone are proof enough that no one seems to happy. Of course this means war, right. Well, not actual war, but war on our wallets is what this is about.

So what to do? Petition of course. This has been done time after time, including the announcing of Devil May Cry 4 making it’s way to the Xbox 360 as well. These type of things may have no real effect, but it sure does cause alot of attention.

Guitar Hero 2 wireless controller could happen

Source: thexboxdomain.com

According to WIRED microsoft and red octane are having some issues in which is making the wireless controller(Guitar) currently unavailable at the games launch. WIRED posted that Red Octane and Microsoft are trying to make nice so we can have our controllers wireless in March even though sources say it’s a little too late. If these two cannot settle their problems expect a wireless controller from third party developer NYKO anyway later this year.
