Your chance to make Sonic history

Source: seganerds.com

Sonic ChroniclesSega has just announced that they shall be holding a contest which will allow you to name one of the new enemy races in the upcoming Sonic Chronicles game, for the DS!

Between March 3rd and March 14th fans will be able to visit the Sonic City website (http://www.sonic-city.com/) to cast their vote in naming the new race.  After the votes have been counted the winner will be announced on March 15th and then appear in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhoodwhen the game launches in Autumn 2008.

Imagine that, playing a game where you have chosen the name for the enemy that you, and every other gamer will fight?!

If the Sonic Chronicles really takes off too, I would expect to see the winning race to feature in more games, you will (potentially) be influencing  future Sonic games.

Full details of the contest are yet to be revealed, but I think any true Sega Nerd, or Sonic fan will be jumping at the chance to get their ideas across.

Stay tuned for more!

Finally! The New Years Nerdaway!

Source: seganerds.com

20080101allprizes2.jpg

Finally it is here! Apologies we had planned to hold it sooner, but… well I won’t fob you off with any excuses, it was held off, it’s here now.  That is what matters!

Previously we had teased you with the outline of prizes we had on offer, and now I give you the rules, regulations and (most importantly) the questions, with which you will need to win.

Rules:  We have 4 seperate bundles of prizes to give away.  Each bundle has a question to go with it.  All you need do is choose which of the prizes bundles you would like to try and win, and answer the corresponding question, and then send your answer(s) to us (contact info coming up).

You can enter to win as many of the bundles you want to, however, we will pick the winners for each bundle in order (starting with 4, ending with 1), and should your name be chosen for Bundle 4, you will not be eligeble for any of the other bundles.

So if you really want to win Bundle 1, it could be wise not to enter for all 4 bundles, in case you ‘accidentally’ win a different bundle.  But, then again, if you just want to win some Sega gaming goodies, then go ahead and enter for all the bundles!

The full list of prizes and questions coming up after the jump.

Bundle 4:  Handheld Bundle

Bundle 4

What we have here is a selection of Nintendo DS and Sony PSP titles.

DS: Super Monkey Ball DS, Sonic Rush and Touch Darts (with limited edition stylus)

PSP: Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, Sega Megadrive Collection and CRUSH

Bundle 3: PC Bundle

Bundle 3

House of the Dead III, Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Sonic Adventure DX and Total War: Eras (Collectors edition boxset with; Shogun: Total War & Mongol Invasion Expansion Pack, Medieval: Total War & Viking Invasion Expansion Pack, Rome: Total War & Barbarian Invasion and Alexander Expansion Packs, plus more)

Bundle 2: Xbox 360 Bundle

Bundle 2

Five Xbox 360 games; Chrome Hounds, Full Auto, Condemned, Virtua Tennis 3 and Virtua Fighter 5

Bundle 1: Saturn Bundle

Bundle 1

Three fantastic Saturn classics.  Enemy Zero, Christmas NiGHTS and Panzer Dragoon Saga.  Plus a NiGHTS Journey of Dreams poster, signed by Iizuka-san, the game’s creator (not shown in picture).  And a Xbox 360 controller.

You may be wondering what the Xbox 360 controller is for?  Well, I have to warn you that the three Saturn titles are from Japan, so you will need either a Japanese Saturn, a Convertor cartridge or a Saturn emulator.

We suggest using a Saturn emulator, in particular SSF.  This allows you to play all region Saturn games on your PC, and the Xbox 360 controller works with SSF allowing you to play these Saturn games with ease.  (See we do care).

Questions

Bundle 4 - Handheld Question:  What is the name of the lead female character in Sonic Rush?

Bundle 3 - PC Question: Which division of Sega develops the Total War series?

Bundle 2 - Xbox 360 Question: What major feature do the Xbox 360 versions of Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtua Tennis 3 have, that the PS3 versions do not?

Bundle 1 - Saturn Question: How many Panzer Dragoon games were released on the Sega Saturn?

So there we are, the full list of questions and prizes on offer for you.  I, perhaps, should add that there are no trick questions here and anyone interested in gaming should be able to answer them with ease.  However, if you cannot, there is always Wikipedia and hundreds of search engines to help aide you. (Really it cannot be more easy!)

How to Enter

To enter the contest all you need do is sign up to be a member here at Sega Nerds (don’t worry it is free) and then PM me  (G) in the forums, with your answers.

Or you can also email me - graham@seganerds.com - giving the email header as “New Years Nerdaway” and then the answers to the questions of the prizes you want to win. )

Simple eh?  Any questions, feel free to either PM me or just leave a comment at the end of this post.

 Good luck everyone!

[Update:] Whoops!  I forgot to add.  The closing date for the contest will be on the 31st January 2008.  So that is a little over 2 weeks away.

Any entries after this date, will not be counted.  We shall then randomly draw the names for each winner and post them on the site the following week.

Thanks, in advance, to everyone who enters.

Not only are all you American gamers lucky enough to receive NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams about a month before us poor Europeans, but Sega is also giving away special limited edition ‘Making Of’ DVDs to people who pre-order the game.

The deal appears to be exclusive to GameStop, so one would need to pre-order their copy from there to receive such a fine gift.

The DVD features an exclusive interview with the game’s creator, Iizuka-san, who we interviewed not so long ago (I’m sure you all remember), plus you can find out how the franchise was originally conceived and see how Journey of Dreams was made.

But stock is limited, so hurry!

The game is due out in the US on December 18th, and should be out (hopefully) in Europe on January 18th.

Dreamcast-Scene to celebrate Dreamcasts 9th birthday in style

Source: seganerds.com

DCS Sweepstake

Yes, it’s the 9th year of the Dreamcasts life, as we ALL know, the Dreamcast is not dead… Shhh! You. Quiet at the back!

Well, we could argue whether or not it’s ‘alive’ till the cows come home, but that won’t be very productive, now would it?

The point being, it was some 9 years ago, on November 27th 1998, when the Dreamcast was first born to the Japanese gaming market.  To celebrate this great date, Dreamcast-Scene have managed to setup quite an interesting sweepstake;

Dreamcast Scene presents - in cooperation with Sega Germany, redspotgames and Van Basilco - a sweepstake that haven’t been there in this form. Good Dreamcast knowledge is required and the prizes grow from day to day.

Rules

  • The sweepstake starts on November 27th 2007 and ends on December 9th 2007.
  • Within this peroid we present a new “gift” (prizes, annoucements) every day.
  • The quiz starts on November 28th 2007 and lasts until December 7th 2007. A new question will be added on every of these days.
  • To participate to this sweepstake you have to answer all quiz question and send those answers to “sweepstake_at_dreamcast-scene.com“.
  • You have to be 18 years or above to enter this sweepstake. If you are under 18 years you have to send a signed agreement from a legal guardian.

Sounds pretty interesting, eh?

As the above states, the questions will not be put up, until November 28th… which happens to be tomorrow!  So be sure to check out Dreamcast-Scene in the next 24 hours, to get ahead of the game.

Also, as the Sega-Germany are also involved with this contest, there is a German translation, right here.  Fantastic.

Source: seganerds.com

Football Manager 2008

UK-based sports channel, Sky Sports have teamed up with Sega and Sports Interactive, to give away a great prize for one lucky winner, plus a copy of Football Manager 2008, for five runners up.

“To celebrate the release of FOOTBALL MANAGER 2008™ for PC and Apple Macintosh, we have teamed up with SEGA and Sports Interactive to give away a fantastic Laptop, five exclusive Toffs ‘custom-made’ Football Manager shirts for 5-a-side team and a copy of Football Manager 2008. We also have five games for runners up.

Football Manager 2008 is the next installment in the award-winning series, from Sports Interactive, and is heading to PC and Mac formats, on October 19th.

For you’re chance to win the goods, all you need do is answer a very simple question…. I’ll give you a clue, the answer is in the last paragraph you just read, and the title image…

Also, from reading the terms and conditions, the contest isn’t limited to the UK.  So you US types, who obviously love ‘Soccer,’ can also enter!  Chances are Football Manager 2008 won’t be released state-side, or will be later than in Europe, so you could be the first American holding a copy of the game… plus getting a laptop.

For full details and to enter the contest, follow the link, here.

For now, here is the official trailer for you to enjoy:
