Manhunt 2 silly-walking into UK on Halloween

Source: infendo.com

The Queen decreed, “You shall simulate murder with your Wii remote.” God save the Queen.

Rockstar Games’ controversial Manhunt 2 has secured an Oct. 31 release in the United Kingdom.

The UK version of Rockstar’s gruesome Wii thriller has been “heavily reworked” from the US version, according to IGN.

Rejected by the Ministry of Silly Walks the British Board of Film Classification in June 2007, Manhunt 2 was criticized for “unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone.”

The Wii version of Manhunt 2 released to mixed reviews in North America last Halloween. It has sold approximately 200,000 copies since according to VGChartz, slightly less than the PS2 version.

New Pikmin title still coming, says Nintendo

Source: infendo.com

A new Pikmin game is coming, and it’s not the GameCube port.

Speaking to Kombo, Nintendo representatives have clarified a new Pikmin title is being made in addition to the GameCube port.

They are apparently two different games, easing concerns that the fabled “Pikmin 3″ is actually just a new version of the first game.

Shigeru Miyamoto announced he is “making Pikmin” at E3 in July. Nintendo has not revealed specifics regarding the new Pikmin, which did not make an appearance at today’s press conference.

Summer of Arcade gives Xbox Live best sales numbers yet

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Braid is like a water-color painting come to life
Xbox 360 owners have had the best Arcade sales yet thanks to the “Summer of Arcade” promotion in which Microsoft released a string of very high profile and high quality Xbox Live Arcade games that included the likes of Braid, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Galaga Legions, Bionic Commando: Rearmed and Castle Crashers.

The monthly sales numbers speak for themselves. For the month of August, sales were up 67%, which is a record-breaking high. In addition to that percentage, Xbox Live had a 58% increase in unique members who purchased downloadable content during the month of August.

So obviously Microsoft’s summer strategy to release a string of high quality and highly anticipated games to their Xbox Live Arcade service worked wonders.

“At E3, we committed to refocusing the Xbox Live Arcade business, vowing to release bigger and better games while focusing on quality and not quantity,” commented Xbox Live general manager Marc Whitten in a statement. “The debut of the new strategy proved to be a huge success, with the Summer of Arcade making August the highest grossing month to date.”

And there are still a number of great titles that Microsoft plans to release in the coming months, among them Portal: Still Alive, Banjo-Kazooie, Uno Rush and a game based on the hit Comedy Central animated series South Park.

Viva Piñata has rekindled my love for the DS

Source: infendo.com

Months had passed since I last used my DS for personal gaming.

It certainly isn’t because I’ve lost interest in the handheld. Recent releases just hadn’t sparked my interest the way older games did.

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise changed that, and I haven’t been able to put down my DS because of it.

I received the game from the good folks at THQ to review for another site, and I immediately fell in love with its beautiful visuals and addictive gameplay. Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise is the best game Rare has made since leaving Nintendo.

For those who care about superficial review scores as opposed to the full text, I gave the game an 8.5 out of 10. Not trying to pimp my wares, I simply want to spread the word about this great game.

If you’re also neglecting your handheld, Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise might help you rekindle your love affair with the Nintendo DS.

Cancelled GCN title returns in Wii compilation

Source: infendo.com

GameCube faithful will finally be able to get their hands on Radio Allergy, one of the system’s cancelled 2007 swan songs.

Only they’ll be playing it on Wii.

Ultimate Shooting Collection, the aptly named shooter compilation, will include Radio Allergy.

The localized version of Japanese shooter Radilgy, Radio Allergy was planned to be one of the final games released for GameCube before being cancelled in June 2007.

Ultimate Shooting Collection also includes 2005 GameCube shooter Chaos Field and Karous, a shooter that has never been released beyond Japanese shores.

The hardcore three-shooter compilation will be priced modestly at $29.99, and it is set for a November release in North America.

IGN feature takes aim at top 20 Wii games

Source: infendo.com

Nothing to play on Wii, you say? Tell that to this guy.

IGN posted proof of the contrary this weekend with a feature analysis of the 20 best games available on Wii. Their list includes most of the usual suspects, but a few surprises made the cut, as well.

Here’s the complete list in no particular order:

- Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (Nintendo)
- Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo)
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo)
- Okami (Capcom)
- Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros’ Treasure (Capcom)
- Super Paper Mario (Nintendo)
- de Blob (THQ)
- Wii Fit (Nintendo)
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Nintendo)
- Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Capcom)
- Wario Land: Shake It! (Nintendo)
- SSX Blur (Electronic Arts)
- Scarface: The World is Yours (Vivendi)
- Trauma Center: New Blood (Atlus)
- Boom Blox (Electronic Arts)
- Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (Electronic Arts)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (Konami)
- No More Heroes (Ubisoft)
- Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)
- Excite Truck (Nintendo)

Surprisingly, only 9 of IGN’s top 20 are first-party titles, meaning more than half the system’s best games are third-party products. Fourteen of the games on the list are exclusive Wii releases.
