The unofficial Mother 3 handbook?

Source: infendo.com

Apparently the guys over at Starmen.net did not think it was enough to just releasing a translation patch. They went ahead and teamed up with Fangamer to compile a complete companion book/players guide for the game as well. With complete coverage of everything in the game, and they even went so far as to make clay models for some characters and enemies just like in the original Earthbound guide.

As of right now they are taking pre-orders for the hardcover book at 20 dollars a pop. If your a fan of the series, this looks like a solid investment. Hit the jump to take a peek at some of the pages.

Mother 3 Translation Patch to go Live soon

Source: infendo.com

Mother 3 was initially released on 2006 on April 20th, furthermore, it was intended to be a Japan only title. Most fans of the series were completely crushed when they discovered this. As the only Mother game to make it out of Japan was Mother 2, which is known as Earthbound.

Albeit, a band of dedicated fans with the hopes of one day playing Mother 3 in English decided to get together and make a fan translation. Which started soon after the game was released, the website they were using was as Mother3.org. However, they soon learned that they were one of two groups working on the translation (Starmen.net being the other), and eventually they decided to join forces to get the patch out as fast as possible

As it stands now the translation patch has been completed and they are almost finished with testing and are adding the final touches. Fans of the series will finally be able to play the game in English only after a two and a half year wait. The patch will apparently be out by the end of the week for all those to enjoy.

Orbient first in Art Style series for WiiWare

Source: infendo.com

Well, you guys called it.

Art Style: Orbient, today’s curiously titled WiiWare release, is a remake of a 2006 GameBoy Advance title.

Nintendo plans to release two more Art Style games on WiiWare this month, according to Wired.

The Art Style games are remakes of the Bit Generations games, a series of seven GameBoy Advance titles released in Japan in 2006. The series was popular for its simple controls and stylish presentation.

WiiWare’s Orbient, originally Orbital on the GameBoy Advance, gives players control of a tiny celestial body. Using gravity, players orbit around larger ones to collide with other planets, stars and rocks.

Orbient has received a significant visual upgrade for the move to Wii. It is available in the Wii Shop Channel for 600 Wii Points.

Rhythm Heaven DS!?

Source: infendo.com

Rhythm Tengoku Heaven is a simple and infectious rhythm game that anyone can play. If you can tap your finger in time to music, you’ll get the hang of Rhythm Heaven in no time! Players hold their Nintendo DS system sideways like a book and tap their stylus on the touch screen to the rhythm of the music. Players tap, slide or flick the stylus to hit the right beat. Rhythm Heaven features catchy tunes, charming characters and a wide variety of rhythm games. Well-known Japanese music producer TSUNKU♂ helped direct Rhythm Heaven and composed the music for it. Be sure to hit the jump for screens and a quick teaser video.

If anyone was a big importer for the Game Boy Advance games back in the day you might be very familiar with this title already. Although this game looks very similar to Rhythm Tengoku for the GBA, it seems to be more of a sequel than a remake.

Rhythm Heaven™
Format: Nintendo DS™
Launch Date: TBA
ESRB: RP (Rating Pending)
Game Type: Rhythm

How to get 99 1UP lives in World 1 on Super Mario Bros 3

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Super Mario Bros. 3 for Game Boy AdvanceThe 99 1-Up lives trick in Super Mario Bros. 1 is classic, but did you know there are several instances where you can gain tons of extra lives in Super Mario Bros. 3? It’s even possible to get 100 lives within the first world. How so? Well the key is using Raccoon Mario. Take a look:

99 1-Ups: World 1-2

Make sure you are Raccoon Mario, or at least Super Mario, when you start this level. Get the Super Leaf from the first Question Block, then jump over the next pipe. Wait a few seconds for a couple of Goombas to come out, then press A to jump on one, but keep holding A and you’ll bounce higher. Float down slowly with your tail and land on another Goomba without touching the ground. Do this about six more times, and as long as you don’t touch the ground, any enemy you stomp after that will give you a 1-Up.

99 1-Ups: World 2-Fortress
Use Raccoon Mario, and the technique used in the trick above, to get 1-Ups from the group of three Dry Bones found at the start of the level. When you bounce off, make sure you stay in the air long enough to allow enough time for the Dry Bones to regenerate so you can stomp them again.

99 1-Ups: World 3-9

Kick a Koopa shell between the second and third Bullet Bill cannons for points and eventually 1-Ups. Kicking a Koopa shell between the third cannon and the pipe also works, but is slower.

Here are the tricks and more in video form.

Mother 3 Translation Team And Nintendo!?

Mother 3 Translation Logo

Today, while I was checking the latest news update on the Mother 3 Translation project, I happened to notice a very unusually snippet of information. Hit the jump to find out what it could be.

When I was reading the update information it seemed to be all rather normal update information, hacking random things like script and other stuff. That is, until they mentioned this…

Professional translations are usually done in Excel spreadsheets and other mundane office documents, so this is all really nice to have. When reid and co. visited NOA last year, the people there were pretty amazed by the tools we’re using.”

What exactly could this mean? With a little bit of searching, and some people asking questions this happened to come up.

“An NOA friend of ours invited reid and co. since the starmen.net convention was in Seattle last summer. So reid and a few people went over and visited with him and a few friends from Nintendo Power too. More info on it [here].

reid was planning on saying absolutely nothing about the project, but then THEY started asking about it and saying how they couldn’t wait to play the patch and stuff.”

Does that mean that Nintendo is unofficially supporting a fan translation or is this all hear say. Either way it is still very interesting to find out about that. So with that let me pose this question what is your view on this, and fan translations in general Infendoites?

Top 3 Game Series Nintendo hasn’t released outside of Japan

Source: infendo.com

japaneseflag225.jpgWe’ve enjoyed the fruits of Nintendo’s labors in the West for over 20 years, but there are still some games we haven’t been able to play. Here are the Top 3 Game Series that Nintendo still hasn’t released outside of Japan.

3) Kururin

kururin225.jpg

The best description I can come up with for this one is Monkey Ball meets a slow spinning helicopter. Piloting a bizarre vehicle through puzzling mazes looks like a great action title. Three games have been released in this series: Kuru Kuru Kururin (GBA, 2001); Kururin Paradise (GBA, 2002); and Kururin Squash! (GameCube, 2004).

2) Mother

mother3225.jpg

While it might seem more appropriate for the number one spot, Mother did get a little exposure outside of Japan as EarthBound for the SNES. Regardless, there are so many cult fans of this series that it seems like a quick cash in for Nintendo. You can’t tell me these games wouldn’t sell better than Super Princess Peach! Three games have been released in this series: Mother (NES, 1989); Mother 2: Revenge of Gigyas! (SNES, 1995); and Mother 3 (GBA, 2006).

1) Legendary Stafy

stafy225.jpg

You’re a star fish going on platforming adventures in the ocean and beyond. This extremely cute character has had fairly good success in Japan, the commercials for which are highly entertaining animated pieces. If there’s something American audiences could use is another well put together platform game from Nintendo. Four games have been released in this series: Legendary Stafy (GBA, 2002); Legendary Stafy 2 (GBA, 2003); Legendary Stafy 3 (GBA, 2004); Legendary Stafy 4 (DS, 2006).

Do any of these games appeal to you?

I miss you, Game Boy Player

Source: infendo.com

Game Boy Player
I’m currently playing Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3), which is great, but I wish I could play it on my TV.

In my effort to consolidate consoles and still play every Nintendo game in 2006, I hastily got rid of my black GameCube after Wii launched. I’m now regretting it–I want a Game Boy Player.

In any case, how much you wanna bet the next DS will feature a Virtual Handheld that sells back catalog Game Boy titles just like Virtual Console does for home games? Wait for it…
