FIFA 10 + PES 2010 new features detailed.

PES 2010

Every year Konami’s PES goes head-to-head with EA’s FIFA to be the number 1 football game in the world. This year though the competition between them is more intense than ever with them both releasing details about this year’s titles months earlier than in pervious years.

PES is heavily focusing on the graphics engine this year which is heavily improved over PES 2009, click here to see a comparison gallery and Konami is also implementing a new player cards system;

In short, a Card represents a move for a player. Different from traditional skills, these cards can be assigned to any players as you wish. You are almost a coach here. However it doesn’t mean the player ability suddenly increases when Cards assigned.

Click here for more information on the Cards.

As mentioned before Konami IDs are no more which should make online play playable and the Master League mode has also undergone a heavy update.

The major changes in FIFA 10 is that players can now move in 360˚ which has never been possible in previous football titles and may well revolutionize the genre. FIFA 10 also features a custom set piece mode where you can create plays and control where your players are positioned for free kicks, see below;

The changes being made to both titles is certainly making my choice of which to buy this year harder than ever.

BUZZ! and Fight Night Spaces arrive in PlayStation Home

The BUZZ! space actually looks pretty fun. I know I’ll be trying that out. Would be cool if down the line you could host a private event. Doubt that would happen, but just a thought. I can see this space being very popular. Hopefully it’s not hard to get into a game like some other Home spaces …

Here, you can meet up with friends new and old and take part in a massive 64-player game of BUZZ! trivia. This content is fed into the space via – a site where you can create your own trivia questions for your fellow BUZZ! fanatics to tackle. So be sure to create an account and start uploading your trickiest trivia. Then get your butt into Home, hook up with your brainiest peeps, enter the BUZZ! HQ, and start racking up the prizes. Rest assured that we’ll be taking advantage of this sweet new space by regularly scheduling some truly awesome events.

The robot boxing looks interesting. Nice to see more updates on a consistent basis. Club DJ doesn’t really interest me, but the mini golf might be good.

This swanky boxing-themed night club space launches with an interactive DJ game, rewards, and plenty of places to chill with your nearest and dearest Home-boys and Home-girls. Note that this is just phase one of the Fight Night space (there are tons of mini-game updates and the new virtual items scheduled for near future deployment)

Looks like Namco Museum Essentials will be available too. If you haven’t downloaded this from the Asian PlayStation Store, do it it’s great. You can unlock arcade cabinets for your Home apt, clothing, items for your apt, etc.

This Week in PlayStation Home: BUZZ! and Fight Night Space Launches, and More!

EA Sports peripherals coming bundled with games in 2009

Let's hope EA doesn't drag it's feet, for the Wii's sakeDo you love peripherals? Well you better because EA Sports is planning to bundle peripherals with some of it’s sports games in the not to distant future, courtesy of Peter Moore’s division.

EA Sports Executive Producer and Vice President David McCarthy said during his Paris GDC lecture, “I think you’ll see games using that Rock Band peripheral strategy from EA Sports, even within the next 12 months.”

And he additionally said, “One of the things we’re doing is looking at just playing with the Wii remote in a different way, using a whole new peripheral that’s out there, kind of thing. So, basically enabling control for the user in a much different way,” McCarthy said, adding, “we are prototyping stuff that really does allow us to play with the Wii remote differently.”

3-in-1 Wii Sports PackSo it looks like we may be having some, “legit” plastic shell peripherals for the Wii from the big companies. That is, assuming other companies follow in EA Sports lead. It’ll be interesting to see though if these peripherals are well thought out and actually add a new dimension to their games, or if they’ll be another throw-away plastic casing like so many of the third-party peripherals available for the Wii.
