Wario Land: Shake It Wii controller gameplay demo. “This could be a platform fan’s dream game.”

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Shake It for WiiWario Land: Shake It’s controls make use of the Wii Remote in NES-style horizontal fashion. You move Wario with the Directional-pad as well as make him duck and crawl through low passages, he jumps with 2 and dashes with 1.

These classic gameplay controls are combined with the Wii Remote’s motion controls: You can make Wario smash the ground by shaking the controller; When you grab a money bag, you can make Wario shake it to release coins; The Wii Remote’s positioning technology by tilting (not aiming at the screen) the controller to make Wario precisely toss enemies that he’s grabbed;

Over all, the first impressions say that Wario feels fast and fluid because of the smooth controls. The shaking of the money bags do slow the gameplay down a bit, but it’s a satisfying mechanic none the less. The first hands-on by IGN concludes “this could be a platform fan’s dream game.”

See the controls, environments, bosses, and special powers of Wario’s latest quest of greed in this gameplay demo.

Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation announced for PC

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Today Japanese publisher Daletto, a new company formed last year by Capcom and Games Arena, announced Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation for PC. The fighting game includes Ryu, Chun Li, and a fighting system based on Street Fighter Alpha. Japanese beta test start in February or March, and a final release date is expected for April 2008.

As the Street Fighter Online: Mouse Generation name suggests, the game is built around mouse controls. You control all the action only with the mouse by moving it in the direction you want your character to move or jump, and the left and right buttons perform, respectively, execute punch and kick attacks. Special moves are performed by combinations of the buttons and mouse gestures.

IGN reports that Daletto will be using an item-based business model, where the game is free to download and play online, but you’ll have to hand over cash to purchase items in the form of character body parts. The game will initially start off with just four characters: Chun Li, Ryo, Hiko and Tiran. The last two are characters from the novels of Chinese author Jin Yong. Additional characters will be added gradually, but players are encouraged to create brand new characters by mixing and matching parts. It’s possible to get Chin Li’s head and torso attached to Zangief’s arms and Ryu’s legs.

There’s a deeper story to the character mixing and matching. Daletto has partnered with Kaiyodo, the toy maker response for the Revoltech brand of toys that feature swappable body parts. The characters in Street Fighter Online are meant to be Revoltech models fighting in a digital world. In the real world, Kaiyodo plans on releasing a Revoltech toy line based on the Street Fighter Online characters.

The game will include community features to keep players coming back. Plans are in place for teams, tournaments, and, eventually, fights featuring more than just two combatants. During gameplay, the game will have a new “cut-in” communication system, which lets players make text bubbles appear above their characters when performing special moves. Replays can be saved and exchanged between community members, who are free to place comments directly in the replay body.

PS: As to why there’s a cat on the in-game screen. That’s part of the “cut-in” communication system that also allows for user-added images during the fights.

Benheck’s new single handed controller

Source: thexboxdomain.com

access_hero2.jpg

In a evolution of the first one handed controller created by Ben Heck is his new and improved revision of the original that garnered much attention the first time around. This one labeled the “Access Controller” has a newly designed chassis that you sit on your leg or a flat surface much like before, but now it has five removable sections that can be repositioned anywhere you want. Righty or lefty, it doesn’t matter. Now, where’s that controller that plugs directly into the back of your head ala Matrix Style?

The five best video game console controllers

Source: thexboxdomain.com

The list from Cnet has some stiff competition including the Xbox 360 controller, the PS2 rumbler, the original NES controller, but which one took the number one position. You might be thinking that all modern controllers were developed from the original NES layout making that the greatest but you’d be wrong. Taking home the cake was the Xbox 360 controller. This is what the guys over there had to say about it:

“Did you expect the Wii? Sorry. It’s a brilliant piece of innovation, that’s not in question, but there simply aren’t enough games to judge it against the best controllers ever. The Xbox 360 pad has proven itself over a longer time and on a wider selection of titles — and it has its own claims to originality.

It’s not terribly pretty — it’s beige, for a start — but the Xbox 360’s pad is a winner on several counts. For starters, it was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath.

There’s also a built-in jack for connecting a headset, so you can hear and talk to your n00b opponents. Can it be waved around like a magician’s wand? Hell no, but this is about serious man-gaming — there’s no time for moving your arms when your thumbs are tapping this fast.”

Check out the article over at Cnet to see the full list of top five controllers.

Ben Heck does it again! How about a PS360 controller?

Source: thexboxdomain.com

buttons.jpg

Ben Heckendorn is a mod genius, but this time his latest is something to see. Nothing special here to see, but a 360 controller. That is until you notice that there’s something seriously wrong with this one. Ben has swapped the guts of the beloved 360 controller with that of the Sixaxis controller.

Asked to do so by order, this is the strangest mod yet for sure. Mixing PlayStation with Xbox may seem wrong, but at least we now know what it would look like. With this in existence now, something tells me that anything is possible now. Get ready to finally see cats and dogs sleeping together. Check out his site for more images and a build walkthrough of this weird combination.

Xbox 360 tilt controller

Source: thexboxdomain.com

Do your friends own a PS3 or a Wii and make fun of your 360 because there are no tilt functions in your controller? Most likely not, but if they did, you can now point and laugh in their face.

A few months ago Adamthole of adamthole.com began a project where he wanted to integrate an accelerometer with a 360 controller. Allowing the controller to use a 2-axis tilt function. Believe it or not, his project is done in only a few months with great results. First attempting to integrate the accelerometer into a wired controller, after successfully doing so, he then moved on to wireless controllers. The only problem with his design what that the tiltboard had to be stuck onto the exterior of the controller. On the up-side, he mentions on his page that there is a switch to shift the control from tilt to left analog.

But a fan of his work had bought his little creation and found a way to put all the hardware into the controller.
