Oblivion 2 maybe coming in 2010

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Oblivion for Xbox 360Bethesda Softworks, creators of The Elder Scrolls RPG series (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) and more recently Fallout 3, have said in a recent interview that “Oblivion 2″ AKA “The Elder Scrolls V” will be released in 2010.

Paul Oughton, Bethesda publishing executive, had this to say: “At the moment we’ve got Fallout 3 for this year and potentially there’s a new Elder Scrolls title in 2010. At the moment we’re not that interested in the Wii. We’re going to stick to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. We’ll continue to pursue three or four titles a year and go for big titles,” he told GI.biz about the company’s publishing plans for the future.

Last month Bethesda also indicated they wish to release Fallout 4 by 2011.

Fallout 3 downloadable content coming to Xbox 360 and PC

It was revealed at E3 2008 that downloadable content (DLC) for Fallout 3 is exclusive to the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game, and will not appear in the PS3 version. However Fallout 3 developer Bethesda has remained quite on details as to how the exclusivity came about.

However Analyst Colin Sebastian with Lazard Capital Markets told Edge Online that Microsoft and Bethesda likely came to some sort of financial agreement to leave PS3 DLC out of the equation.

“…I think it’s a very good possibility that Microsoft and Bethesda were partners in this decision. Obviously Microsoft paid up to secure exclusive online content for Grand Theft Auto IV, and online is a cornerstone for Microsoft’s digital media strategy.”

Fallout 3 for Xbox 360 has exclusive DLCOfficially Bethesda had this to say in an e-mail to Edge Online, “We aren’t going to get into the details of the hows and whys. DLC will be exclusive for PC and 360. We’re not going to give any other qualifiers or clarifications as it relates to other platforms.”

The DLC will reportedly be several hours long and will include an entirely new quest line!

“We want stuff that’s going to be several hours. Not just like a one-off thing, but something like where you can download it and play it for X number of hours,” Hines told ShackNews. “It’ll be similar to what we did with Knights of the Nine in Oblivion, where it’s like whole new quest lines, new stuff, that kind of thing. We want to do stuff like that, where it’s adding hours of tangible stuff to the experience. And it plugs into your existing game, so whether you’re starting a new game, or you’re playing for 40 hours, you can go off and play this,” said Hines.

Work on the DLC for the game is well under way at this point, “We stopped doing content a pretty good way before we finished the game in terms of adding new stuff. So we already have folks starting to look into what [the DLC] might be,” added Hines.

Fallout 4 release by 2011 would be good, hints Bethesda dev

Source: videogamesblogger.com

Fallout 3 on PCYou won’t have to wait 10 years for Bethesda Softworks to release Fallout 4 like you have on Fallout 3, for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 after the second game. Todd Howard, executive producer of the action-RPG, said in an interview that: “I think it’s good for people to miss things. Ten years between Fallout is a bit long, but I think there’s this nostalgia factor.”

Luckily for fans of the post-Apocalyptic game, set in Washington, D.C., Reuters reports that you won’t have to wait another decade for Fallout 4. After asking Mr. Howard about it, he said he believes three years is a good time frame between games.

A 2011 date hinted for Fallout 4 sure beats waiting another 10 years! But let’s first play Fallout 3 when it arrives on October 28th, 2008.

Announced today was that Inon Zur has created the original musical score for Bethesda Softworks’ post-apocalyptic game, Fallout 3. Zur, an award-winning composer, has created numerous scores for films, television, and new media. Most recently, he composed music for CBS’ Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side TV webisode series as well as the Marvel Kids webisodes for Iron Man. But you know better from music in Crysis and the Warhammer 40,000 expansions.

You can listen to three of Mr. Inon’s tracks from Fallout 3 in the Downloads section of the Fallout 3 website.

“We’ve wanted to work with Inon for a long time,” said Todd Howard executive producer of Fallout 3. “He brings so much to the table, in terms of his talent, background, and the music that’s influenced him. He’s created a score that has epic sweep; from the lonely ambience of the wasteland to dramatic fights for survival.”

Currently under development at Bethesda Game Studios — creators of award-winning The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the 2006 Game of the Year — Fallout 3 is slated for release this Fall on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Put those party hats away, there’ll be no Fallout 3 demo.

Pre-order the Fallout 3 Collector's Edition for PCDeveloper Bethesda’s Pete Hines has confirmed that there will be no Fallout 3 demo for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 post-apocalyptic RPG. No, not even after Fallout 3’s October 7th, 2008, release date.

To quote: “No way. When you build it as one thing, there’s no way to portion off a section and have it stand on its own without putting the whole game in the demo, which we’re just not going to do. And it doesn’t really capture the fun of a game like an Elder Scrolls or a Fallout, where you can go where you want and do what you want. So no demo, sorry.” — Via Eurogamer

When the first Fallout 3 details were revealed, it was included that the post-apocalyptic action-RPG would have 12 endings. Developer Bethesda boss Todd Howard has now confirmed in the latest OXM podcast (37 minutes in) that Fallout 3 will have over 200 possible endings!

To quote him: “Being that we are Bethesda, everything gets a bit big. So as of last week, we’re over 200 endings. That is not an exaggeration, but it deserves some descriptions.” Meaning that like in other Fallout games, the choices you make affect aspects of the endings, resulting in a combination of sub-endings.

Mr. Howard also confirmed that Fallout 3 is twice the size than anticipated and close to the size of Oblivion, saying: “The game is easily 100 hours” Fallout 3 will be released on PC, Xbox 360 & PS3 in fall 2008. — Via Joystiq
