It seems the Rumor was true. According to the official Xbox 360 HD-DVD page the once $199.99 player has dropped to just 50 bucks plus tax. Where did it go wrong HD-DVD? Where did it go wrong? For 50 Dollars I say jump on this deal because the player still makes for a good DVD upscaler.

If you haven’t been following the news, HD-DVD is pretty much dead. Now don’t be mad that you(and I) have a dead player in our houses for it does make for a good DVD Up scaler. Anyway, Arstenica who is usually on point with their inside tips have something which might anger early adopters and please HD-DVD less gamers. According to them the Xbox 360 HD-DVD player will be dropping in price to a low low amount of $49.99.

“I have word on the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive, On February 21, the price is going to drop to $49.99.”

One thing you might notice is February 21st came and went but no official price reduction was announced. We’ll keep an out for any confirmation.

Major Nelson gives us word that the HD-DVD player straight from Microsoft has dropped in price to a hopefully affordable, $129.99 and is effective immediately. This goes for the United States, Canada, Austrailia and New Zealand.

This just in: The Xbox 360 HD DVD Player price has dropped from $179.99 to $129.99 (U.S. MSRP.) This new price is effective immediately in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Combine the new price with the 5 free HD DVD offer and it’s a pretty good deal.

According to Eurogamer Microsoft’s Jeff Bell and the Blu-Ray camp have been “talking” about a future partnership. Jeff Bell was quoted as saying:

We’ve been talking to Blu-ray all along because we have the best piece of software in the business, called HDi. It is the backbone that powers interactivity in HD-DVD and we have that available to potentially partner with others,”

Jeff goes on to say that even though Microsoft could partner with Blu-Ray, MS is still loyal with HD-DVD:

“You never say never. I think we’d like to see how things evolve. Our commitment, however, to HD-DVD is profound and consistent, and we have done very, very well in term of our accessory sales.”

So, when can we start taking bets for the release of the Blu-Ray add-on for Xbox 360?

Hai Guys. I recently purchased Microsoft’s “Messenger Kit” package which includes one chatpad and one wired headset. The package was worth $29.99 and overall I feel the package was mostly worth it. What really set me on buying the “Messenger Kit” was I needed a headset and I figured “Why spend 20 bucks on only one headset while I can spend 10 more dollars and get the chat pad/headset duo”.

First let me get the negative out of the way. Maybe it was just me but the headset which came with the package was totally “Rubbish”. I kept getting complaints from gamers on Halo 3 who complained of major static. Luckily for me I found one of my old wired headsets and haven’t heard a complaint since.

When you snap the chatpad to your controller for the most part you can play without any hiccups. The chatpad is perfectly placed where it doesn’t bother or take you away from your gaming experience. Even though it feels good I still wouldn’t play with it on because hey nothing beats the feeling of freedom baby.

I had a couple of MSN messenger conversations with the chatpad and it was pretty flawless. Believe it or not I actually don’t mind the digital keyboard on the Xbox 360 system because I’ve been typing on it since 2005 and have pretty much mastered it.

If you receive tons of IM’s and are always typing you will love the chatpad. As for me a gamer who doesn’t really type a lot on the 360 I would pass on it.
