The Tiberium FPS’s release date has been delayed until 2009 or 2010 according to publisher Electronic Arts, much to the dismay of C&C fans everywhere.
Tiberium sees the return of the first-person viewpoint for the Command & Conquer series, whose last first-person shooter title was 2002’s Command & Conquer: Renegade. Tiberium was announced earlier this year and adds squad-based elements to the FPS formula.
As for when gamers will get to see the game, EA didn’t show the game at E3 2008 and has now announced during an earnings conference call that we will not see the game until the 2010 financial year, which falls in between the months April 2009 to March 2010. Although this isn’t a surprise given that it was only announced this year, it is a bummer to think that we may not see the game until 2010.
However, as is always the case with games, this will definitely be a good thing as it will mean the developers have been able to work on the title for a good three years (four if it lasts until 2010) because prior to the game’s announcement this year, it had already been in development for two years. So hopefully the game will have a very shiny sheen by the time it hits the market.
