Assassin’s Creed features on Xbox 360 compared to PS3 version

Assassin's CreedAs Altair, a medieval hitman with a mysterious past (he’s not a time traveler), you have free reign to explore vast cities and countryside. You will investigate your targets by exploring, eavesdropping and even picking pockets for clues on his whereabouts. When you have three clues (with more to discover) you can then move to the assassination stage, using “social stealth” to blend in with crowds, searching for handholds to scale castle walls, using killer’s intuition to hone in on the target and go for the kill of justice.

After the Xbox 360 demo of Assassin’s Creed at X06 there wasn’t much more news out of Ubisoft’s camp, except that the team is trying to put together a package of downloadable content that Director Raymond could only say is “something ambitious.” She hinted slightly at extended gameplay and possibly even some kind of multiplayer, as the team did create a prototype multiplayer and co-op mode. But, as of now, there is still nothing to announce.

The interesting part of the quote from IGN says that while the PlayStation 3 and 360 versions of Assassin’s Creed are virtually identical, Raymond did say that on the Xbox 360 the team is putting a special emphasis on achievements. The hardware also allows for improved threading, which will improve even further the crowd AI.

Rag Doll Kung Fu team making PS3 exclusive

Rag Doll Kung FuThe Rag Doll Kung Fu team recently formed their own studio Media Molecule. Turns out for the past six months they’ve been working on a new game exclusively for PS3, which will be published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

A quote from, creative director at Media Molecule, Mark Healey: “Working together on Rag Doll convinced us that a focussed and efficient team had the ability to deliver exciting and innovative content. The ambition for Media Molecule is to take that a step further and prove that a small and passionate team can deliver a world class, triple-A, next generation product. Sometimes the very unwieldiness of a massive team renders it much less efficient.”

Rag Doll Kung Fu screenshotAlex Evans, technical director for Media Molecule, added: “I think it is fantastic that a massive company like Sony has the vision to see that a smaller outfit can create a world class game.”

“We were immediately struck by Media Molecule’s ambitions for what a next-gen title could be,” commented Michael Denny, VP of Sony’s worldwide studios, via Gamesindustry.

If you thought those quotes were vaguely alluding to something yet not saying much at all, wait till you read what the VP of Sony’s worldwide studios, Michael Denny, has to say about any tangible information like say… the game’s name or description… Turns out they “look forward to presenting the game publicly in due course.” That’s almost as annoying as “It’s done when it’s done.” :-P

Alan Wake first gameplay demo

Alan Wake is a bestselling horror writer, who writes a novel about his darkest nightmares. In the Xbox 360 & PC (Windows Vista only) game by the same name, those nightmares come true… At E3 developer Remedy showed a teaser to give a feel for the game that features a massive open world for the players to explore, with mission based exploration in the single player adventure. (set for 2007)

The below demo video was taken during the keynote presentation at the Intel Developers forum last Tuesday, but the game will run just as well on equivalent AMD processors (as well as Xbox 360). As you’ll hear in the presentation, the game needs multiple processor cores to show its magic.

Japan goes Pokemon Diamond and Pearl crazy!

Pokemon Diamond Pearl lines
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have just been released in Japan today. New information says there are a total of 114 new Pokemon in the two new games, taking the series up to a total of 500 Pokemon! So prepare to fill up those 18 boxes holding 30 Pokemon each, early in 2007 for us English speaking folks. If you want to spoil the game, see all new Pokemon evolutions here.

As you can see from the above waiting line with over a thousand people in it, Japanese young and old are excited. Nintendo put on quite a Pokeshow. The first (unconfirmed) reports suggest Nintendo sold out of TWO MILLION Pokemon Diamond/Pearl copies available at launch, as well as selling out of the extra half a million DS Lites they manufactured especially for the Pokemon launch day.

Exciting of course is the possibility of online co-op treasure hunting, trading (Pika!) you can see here, and watch a WiFi online battle demonstration below:

Angry Nintendo Nerd reviews Wally Bear and the NO Gang on NES

Wally Bear and the NO Gang memorable quoteThis is the eight in a series of bad video game reviews by the Angry Nintendo Nerd. “Wally Bear and the NO Gang” was made by the then bankrupt American Game Carts Inc. In 1992 AVE released the NES game and sadly couldn’t name it “Wally Bear and the Just Say No Gang” because “Just Say No (To Drugs)” was a copyrighted slogan. The game tries to instill moral values in gamer kids, but after watching the review all you’ll want is to say NO to awful games!

New Saints Row content =Meh

I like Saints Row–I think it’s a good game and I feel you should atleast give it a rent. But what I don’t like is IMO crappy marketplace downloads and especially with a ”Half-Assed” multiplayer. I don’t feel like spending points on a game which is still not complete(Since multiplayer is a mess with lag, glitches..etc)

So does developer Voliton release a patch?? Nope.

They release this–For 100 microsoft points you can get

  1. Fake Tuxedo Shirt(fake?
  2. Short Sleeve Tropical Shirt(Nothing like popping gats while wearing one of these)
  3. Spiked Leather Jacked(to match my stolen HotRod!)
  4. Leopard Skin Underwear(The ladies love that)
  5. Tiger Stripes Underwear(”Tight like a tiger”)
  6. Leather Chaps(hmmm..)
  7. Crazy Bunny Slippers(LOL…)
  8. Samurai Helmet(Gangsta!)
  9. Eye Patch(ARRRRRRR)
  10. Skull Ring(Just in time for halloween)
  11. Saints Row Medallion(promote the game more)
  12. Saints Row Wristband(just don’t get blood on it)
  13. Full Spiked Hairstyle(Stab people with them)
  14. Curly Gent Mustache(Like the monopoly guy!)
  15. Ladies Man Mustache(you pimp you)
  16. Split Goatee(Split heads while having a spilit goatee)
  17. Sharp Edge Muton(hmmm.)
  18. Panther Tattoo(Rarr!)
  19. RattleSnake Tattoo(Like Stone Cold!)
  20. Biohazard Tattoo(Well since your killing cops..etc…how about a warning label Tattoo?)
  21. Ankh Tattoo(what..?)

Here we go again–Peter Molyneux hype train starts its engine.

Remember how “Fable” was so hyped up? “Best RPG ever” this “Best Graphics ever” that, then when the game came out it was good but nowhere near the greatness that was spoken about.

Well Fable 2 is coming next year, and Creator Peter Molyneux discussed a bit about the game to the press.

First things first…

  • That whole “plant an acorn, grow a tree” will actually be in Fable 2 which was supposed to be in Fable.
  • You can choose to have Protected or Unprotected sex with your wife. If you are playing as a female character you will see your belly expand. If you are a male character after a certain amount of in-game days(during that time you will be on journeys) when you come back from your adventures and visit your wife the child which was not even born when you left will slam the door open and greet you with open arms.
  • Your character will not swing its weapon aimlessly which means if you are in a tight corridor or closed in space he will not swing his/her’s weapon because it will hit the wall or object
  • Also, Peter wanted a feature in FABLE 2 that his dev team thought was CRAZY–but it will be included in the game and when people talk about FABLE 2 they will also talk about this Great new feature.

Peter said that around March 2007 is when we will be able to see some gameplay footage. So is this guy pulling our chains again(With this NEW feature) or Lionhead finally deliver on these promises. We will see.
